I've always thought that when you had your high beams on, you should be able to keep the low beam and fog lights on too. Why they don't already do this with the LS I'm not sure. Anyone have a write up on how to add either a relay set to factory headlights wiring or modify the wiring to enable what I'm looking for?

I was thinking of setting up my lights like that, but it would have to be done under the hood, because the wiring behind the switch in the dash uses resistor values not seperate wires for each set of lights.
Not sure, but there may also be an issue with the information center.
Depending on the resistance it could say that the lights are bad or at lease not tell you when the lights go bad.

Sounds like a fun little project for a saturday afternoon.

the DOT law says you can only have 4 beams of light forward.

The usual way this looks:
- low beams + driving lights
- high beams + driving lights
- low beams + high beams - no high beams

Since our lower driving lights can remain on with the high beams, you cannot legally have the low beams on as well.

This law excludes Mississippi where as long as your bumper is below four foot from the pavement and you'r tag lights work your fine. :N

Good point though, you may want to put that on a switch for the more anal states.

On my 2001 LS, the fog lights do not remain on with the highbeams unless I hold back on the stick when transitioning between low beams and high beams (and even with that - they shut off when you let go). In either case I've done this on all of my other cars so I'm not afraid to do it myself. Maybe I'll even make a little kit. We'll see.

I lived in Mobile from late 95 till late 96 and that was the first time I ever saw less than 5% tint on every window including the entire windshield.

Hmmm I would be interested in this if someone wanted to make it a plug n play kit...I know they sell one for the Full size chevy pick-ups.

On the legality issue my question would be yeah it's against the law, but don't you have to turn off your brights when there's oncoming traffic anyway?? What cop is actually gonna notice you're car does that, AND actually CARE??? I doubt it...If you live in a state that requires an inspection I could see it being an issue, but I don't have that problem.

Well I think my point is they have to catch you with your brights on...Unless you are in the habit of brightlighting cars that are close enough to tell the difference beween 4 bright lights and 6 (and I would have to say you need a lesson in basic auto edicate), then I don't know how they would be able to tell.

I Have Done It With My 2000 Ls. Very Simple Get 4 Fog-light Relays- 2 For Each Side- You Tie 1 Relay So The Highbeam Power Trips The Relay And Sends A Seconday Power To The Low Beam, You Need To Repeat This For The Fog Lights Also... All For Under 50.00 If You Are Interested I Have A Schematic.

I think part of the reason why you can't do all 6 at once is because it draws so much from your elec system.

Ok, I have a reeeeally dumb question, but how do you even turn the foglights on? When I turn the knob they don't ever turn on.

I'm lost on this one... Your fog lights come on with no other lights? When the switch is in the middle, everything's off. When you rotate left to autolamp, the fogs only come on when it's dark enough to trip the main lights. In any case, the fogs can only come on when you have the switch pulled out.

our 'foglamps' are really driving lights - so I think that's where the confusion is.

if your headlamps are coming on while you drive - that's called daytime running lights (DRL) and is a Canadian option (since it's law there).

that is controlled by the PCM programming.

That would explain it... cuz I know mine don't turn on unless I tell them to. How did you get a Canadian car In NC?

DRL's have been discussed extensively on LLSOC, and the conclusion was that it's a computer issue.

If you want DRL's on, you have to get your computer reflashed. If you don't want them on, you have to get your computer reflashed.
