Bigfoot in LS or, watch that hood release catch

When I got my 2004 LS two weeks ago, I drove home in the dark and heavy rain, this is So Cal for Pete's sake, rain??!!?

Anyway, next morning on my way to work I noticed the hood bouncing up and down. I must not have noticed the problem on my drive home from the dealer, or it happened the night before when I got out.

A day later I was getting out of the car and I heard the hood pop open. Coincidentally I felt a tug on my left shoe. Aha, I thought, my left shoe tongue is getting caught on the hood release latch and opening the hood.

Just today same thing, got out of the car and my shoe caught the hood release and opened the hood.

THought I should warn some of you since this can be a dangerous situation.

Don't know if it is my size 12D wafflestompers or ghosts, but from now on I will pay close attention to where my foot is when I exit the car.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

I guess size does matter. :Beer
It's happened to me a few times.
Its kind of hard to look cool getting out of a nice car, then having to close the hood.

Dang 10 minutes after I posted my warning, I got in the car and soon as I got on the freeway, the hood popped up a little. Jeez. This morning I had the shoe pop the hood and I am wondering if I did not close it hard enough, or the spring tension is too little(it felt kind of light to me) or I hit it with my shoe again.

This is actually quite a serious problem if it keeps up. I need to check the latching mechanism and spring and cable to make sure it isn't just weak or on a "hair trigger".

But still, I do know my shoe has caught the hood release at least 2 or 3 times so far, and each time the hood has popped.

hmmm.

Same thing happened to me after a week of purchasing this car, and I thought I was the only one my size is 6 1/2" Girls Size and I dont have big feet for a girl. So now I do place good attention when getting into or out of the car. They need to fix this thing cause I keep getting my feet in there.

the popping up has not happened to me but i always have a problem closing the hood. i must slam it with atleast 2 attempts to securely close it. dealer states that they can not reproduce. once secured, not problem.

The red LS at the LA auto show had a hood that just wouldn't close no matter how hard people slammed it... pretty funny to watch.
