Ford Warranty

I had a thought. Last time I was in the dealership, the service manager and I were talking, and he says to me "Well, this car had a warranty on it. And a good one at that. It was a Ford warranty, to 100K miles with zero deductable. Too bad you didn't have it transferred."

I bought the car from a small dealer, who didn't know about the warranty (got the car at auction). Now, this may be wishful thinking, but if the warranty was paid for in the first place, shouldn't it still apply to the car whether it was transferred or not?? Maybe I could track down the previous owner and get the transfer?? Or am I just hoping for the impossible?

Try calling the Ford customer service line. They might be able to save you some leg work.

That was one of the things I looked into during my buying process. In order for the warranty to transfer, the original buyer would have to sign a transfer release form. At least this is what the Ford Warranty customer service line told me.

Hope this helps!

Though filling it up hurts everytime I look at the total cost. Premium gas in the DC/B'more area runs between 2.35 and 2.60 depending on the part of town you in.

Fastbird,
There is a number in the back of your owners manual. Takes a while to get to the right person and you have to give them the VIN,name, address etc. but they will transferr the remainder of the waranty to you. Try it and go back to the dealer to see if he can charge the work back to Ford and give you a break. lol Lincolnlov

I'm going to try that. Hopefully I can get it done, because the dealer made mention of the warranty and said it was the best one available too.

AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHhhhhhhhhh...............!

The car had Lincoln's top of the line warranty on it, which automatically transfers to new owners. I thought I was freakin in. Then she said it's a 72 month 75000 mile warranty. Up to 75000 miles. :frown: Crap. We bought the car at 75,050 miles. Aparrently if the vehicle is still under the factory warranty when the Premuim Care warranty is purchased, the Premium care is considered a "tack on" and only extends out from the factory warranty to the mileage end I.E. 75000 miles.

Sooooooo close. What a bummer. :frown:

On another note, the car is running well still.
