00ls8 sport (50k) shutters while in park and at a constant 3k to 4k, but feels fine when slowing down and at WOT.
No check engine (yet)
Started last night while driving down interstate in rain
(we had over 10 inches)
I'm thinking coil/plug related, but could it be water related?
I purchased the car last Nov so I don't know about the history, but I would guess all original except charging system.

the shutter in Park at 3k it normal - it's the built in rev limiter.

Brought LS to stealership Saturday for new tires and had them run a diagnostic, because it was running like crap and but wouldn't give any codes.

Sure enough, coils 4 & 7 dead.

Both compartments were wet.

My warranty will cover it and they said they would eat the diag. charges because they were going to stick it to the warranty company.

Better them than me.

They had to order the parts and are supposed to call me today.

They said it would be fine to drive it untill the parts came in.

Is that right?

Dropped the car off at the stealer to get the 2 coils replaced and had them check the rest for any problems and I bet you can guess what they found.

The new gaskets are being put on as we speak.

I guess thats what I get for being a smartass. :Bang

I would have done it myself, but as long as it's under warranty git-r-done.

My bill is $17 for the spark plugs. :Beer

How much does it usually cost for 2 cop's, gaskets, and labor?

I'm wondering if this just paid me back for the extended waranty.

Is there anything I should ask the techs to check while they're in there?

Dealer charges around $800 for a gasket job, add in the COPs and you probably made out OK.

I think there was a recall or design change made to add RTV (or something) to the harness that goes inside the cover to the COPs to keep water out. Apparently a common problem.

Mine does that shutter, like someone is lightly shacking the car or I'm moving my leg rapidly up and down. I'm guessing I have the same problem and should have this checked out?

Picked up the car @ 6pm and was still studdering so I ran another diagnostic and the #3 coil is dead now.

That makes 3 coils in one week.
It goes back to the stealer in the morning.
This is so much fun. :woowoo2:
