First off, let me say that this forum is incredible! I've read quite a few threads in the last half hour or so and there's so much I've learned already! You guys are great! I need some help, my door ajar switch isn't working, I've tried wd-40 and I've used nearly a whole can... getting a little frustrated.. tried locking/unlocking repeatedly and opening and closing the doors... Help! Is this normal or should I just go ahead and change the door switch? I had bought one awhile back and I just hadn't gotten around to doing it yet, but I'm fed up with the message on my dash... Thanks in advance! :L

First of all, :W . If you can't get the message to go away, I'd say change it out since you've got one handy.

First off.....:W to the LvC!

Secondly....not to sound like a smartass, but are you spraying the WD-40 into the latch assembly that is on the door? If you are, you MAY not be getting the lubricant where it is needed. You see, the actuator is about the size of a pen head, the opening is NOT much bigger, AND the spring behind the actuator is not much stronger than what you find in a pen. So, when ANY debris get into the opening the pin does not have the spring behind it to push thru the debris. What the WD-40 (or any other lubricant) does is help to break up the debris so that the actuator can slide into the opening in the latch assembly. What opening/closing the door does is exercise the actuator and helps to break up the debris along with the WD-40.

I hope that helps a bit. :Beer

It worked! I got off of work and went home and by the time I got there it was working! So thanks a bunch for all your help!Hopefully it will stay working! My husband was shocked when I showed him last night! I never told him that I was going to try the wd-40... Thanks again!
