when you say it will start running by itself, do you mean that the engine starts to rev without you on the gas? Any CEL's

yes when you take your foot off the gas instead of the idle coming down the engine sometimes keep revving up for awhile

the revving up is vaccum it takes awhile, if it runs rough at idle you might have a bad IACv

definatly sounds like it could be a vac problem, but id also check the throttle body positioning sensor. Mine went about 2 weeks ago, and it was idleing at 2500rpm, and wouldnt shift untill3000rpm, and when id let off the gas, it would continue to "drive" itself. Regardless about what the problem is, i would get the codes pulled, definatly the easiest way to diognose the problem.

IACV- does it matter if you buy this part from Napa or Autozone, or is this one of the parts that you really should buy from the dealership?

You won't get any better quatity...

IMHO - the IACV is crap to begin with...just get on from the cheaper store and be happy! :D

I wonder if the valve is built by another company and then just labeled by Motorcraft, like the fuel pumps are?
