97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 09:53 PM Does anyone know how to find out what year an engine is bye the numbers off of the block? and Whether a 1993 engine with all of the stuff except the heads swapped on it from a 1997 engine will work in a 1997 LSC if I have the stock original harness for the car itself and all I will be using is the lower half and the heads? The reason I am asking is because after I bought this car the guy tells me that it is a 1993 engine!!! But it was remanufactured bye Ford in 2000 so I am a little worried that I am about to run into some problems now!!! Let me know what you guys think!!! Also does the 1997 engine have the hose that comes from the back of the waterpump and runs under the manifold to the lines mounted on the back of the engine? or Is that something from the 1993 engine that I am going to have to change around? I have seen some pics of a 1997 engine with the manifold off of it and I didnt see that hose that my engine has!!! Getting worried now!!!

I live close to you, I could come tell you what it is that's in there. What street do you live on?
94m5 July 29th, 2010, 10:50 PM No limit is the man....
But your swap will be a piece of cake.
Sapperfire July 29th, 2010, 10:57 PM And the 93 is the better engine anyway...good deal, Laser and I are kinda convinced that I got an annomily car tho

Thanks for the offer. I live on Atlantic St. off of Bob Wallace Ave., but my car is in Hazel Green. I have it at a friends shop for now. Don't think I will be doing the install there though because he is never there so I have'nt been able to do any work on it and it is going to be too much trouble working on his schedule. Since he doesnt have one!!! So I am going to have to find somewhere else to do it and just accept the fact that I will be doing it with out a lift. Wanted to use his shop for the lift!!! It is Auto Care Plus right off of the Parkway on the right in Meridianville/Hazel Green!!! But whenever you want we could take a ride out there and take a look at what I have!!! Just let me know.

Thanks Sapp, I had to go Google that damn word lol.
An anomaly is any occurrence or object that is strange, unusual, or unique.

I have lived on your side of town before and out in Toney, AL. too, right next to Hazel Green. Anyway, when you have some time, I'll ride out there and if it's a 93 engine, I'll know just by looking at it. If the seller lied and it has a 97 engine in it, I'll know that too. I could probably go Saturday or Sun.
97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 11:27 PM Yeah NOLIMIT that would be cool my number is 539-1874 just give me a ring whenever you have time. The engine is'nt in the car bye the way!!! I have the valve covers and manifold off of it too!!! But what is your name? My little brother lives in Toney near meridianville and I have lived around here for years!!!
Sapperfire July 29th, 2010, 11:28 PM Keep in mind that 93s came with 2 different styles of intake tube
97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 11:28 PM Thanks Sap and 94m5 for the encouragement!!!

Hukked on fonix werkeded fir mi
97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 11:31 PM Well I know for a fact that I have the 97 intake and valve covers. The IMRC's have a sticer on the levers that operate the butterflies that has a date on it and I guess part no.!!! Which is F8ZU-BA and then under that is 07-25-96
97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 11:33 PM The other one has F8ZU-AA and 7-25-96

looks like I need it too. Mis-spelled "sticker"!!!

Terry Bridges is the name. Is the engine anywhere around the car? I can still tell you if it's a 93 or 97 or let me ask you this. Do you have plug wires on the engine you have or have you not seen any?
LaserSVT July 29th, 2010, 11:37 PM And the 93 is the better engine anyway...good deal, Laser and I are kinda convinced that I got an annomily car tho
Actually..... the 93 is prolly the least desierable motor. :p
There was a head revision after 93 but I have no idea what it was about.
What makes the 93 faster is the computer and weight difference. Take a no optioned base 93 against a loaded 94 and the 93 will dust it cause of 21* timing comanded at tip in and the 200lbs less weight and thats why it the 93 will walk the 94..... or a much heavier second gen.
Keep in mind that 93s came with 2 different styles of intake tube
Dont matter. Block and heads is all he would/could use. He even has to swap over valve covers.
Anyway, op. How do you know it was reman in 2000? So the guy blew the motor then threw in a 93 motor and then sent it to Ford to be rebuilt?
Hopefully its not a 99+ Windsor block. Well for 99% of the people the Windsor block dont make much difference as it can still hold more power then the chasis can but still, I like having the best block Ford made in my car.
NoLimit95 July 29th, 2010, 11:48 PM Well, when he said IMRC's that answered the question. :p
97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 11:51 PM I'll explain what I have. The guy bought the car for 6 grand and three days later blew the engine!!! Took the engine and tranny out. He took the valve covers and the intake off of the blown engine and put them on the new engine. He said it was a 1993 engine. It was sitting in his garage on a "cradle/K-member" dont really know what it is called? With the suspension and tires still attached to it and the tranny attatched to it. The Intake was just laying on top of the engine but he had already installed the valve covers! It has the cop's on it. I took off the valve covers and the intake to clean up and paint!!!
97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 11:52 PM sorry laser it has a tag on it that says remanufactured by ford with a date stamped on it. ?/?/2000
97SilverLSCcobra July 29th, 2010, 11:53 PM It didnt have any mounts where coil packs would have went unless he took them off too!!!
NoLimit95 July 29th, 2010, 11:56 PM COP's and IMRC's... It's not a 93 engine. 93's don't have either of those.
97SilverLSCcobra July 30th, 2010, 12:02 AM Yeah but that is stuff he took off of the blown up engine and put on the new one!!!
NoLimit95 July 30th, 2010, 12:31 AM So you're saying you may have a 93 block and everything else is 97? Possible
97SilverLSCcobra July 30th, 2010, 12:33 AM With the intake off of a 1997 engine. Is there a black hose running from the back of the water pump to the water lines mounted on the back of the engine where the temp. sensor is? Because that is what mine has and I seen the pics of the engine Jamie just sent Laser with the intake off and it did'nt look like the hose was there!!!

I don't know of any black hose coming from the back of the water pump. The water pump goes into a cylinder type hole and there is no hose that I can recall.
NoLimit95 July 30th, 2010, 01:01 AM This is the back of a 93

97SilverLSCcobra July 30th, 2010, 01:08 AM Thanks for the pics. Yes the waterpump goes into a cylinder and this hose that is on mine comes out of the back of that cylinder. I will put up some pics tomorrow!!! Of everything that I have!!!
topher5150 July 30th, 2010, 07:00 AM I have a bunch of parts for a gen II if you need some, intake, timing chain cover EGR tube etc....
97SilverLSCcobra July 30th, 2010, 10:54 AM I have a bunch of parts for a gen II if you need some, intake, timing chain cover EGR tube etc....
ok I will let you know!!!
97SilverLSCcobra July 30th, 2010, 10:57 AM Does anyone have a pic of the top of a gen2 engine with the intake off of it?
LaserSVT July 30th, 2010, 12:07 PM Sounds like he took off the valley pan.
LaserSVT July 30th, 2010, 12:21 PM So I took a pic of mine to see whats what. Yeah, he took the valley pan cover out and there is a hose under there.
So it seems you just have a rebuilt 93 motor. OK, easy enough. Yeah it will all bolt together as long as you have the IMRC boxes. Everything else is the same and the parts that are different such as the plenum and valve covers have been changed over. You are good to go sounds like.
BTW, if he swaped in the whol k-member from a 93 then chances are you have the 93's steering rack which was the quickest ratio one. :)

Uhhhhhhhhhhh, wut? All Marks have IMRCs. *scratches head*

Sorry, had my mind somewhere else at the moment. BTW, do all Marks IMRC's open and close?
LaserSVT July 30th, 2010, 01:04 PM Sorry, had my mind somewhere else at the moment. BTW, do all Marks IMRC's open and close?
I am not gonna answer that. You know better. What does IMRC stand for?
NoLimit95 July 30th, 2010, 01:12 PM :D intake manifold runner control.
Why do Gen 2 people want to do IMRC deletes?
LaserSVT July 30th, 2010, 01:16 PM :D intake manifold runner control.
Why do Gen 2 people want to do IMRC deletes?
Only time I see people do it is when they do a Cobra plenum swap or a blower. On a blown application like mine they are a hinderence so I no longer have them but on a turbo or centri then they still are helpfull untill the snail spools.
IDK why CObra plenum swap people do it. The Cobra intake hurts the bottom end already and deleting the IMRC hurts it even more.
NoLimit95 July 30th, 2010, 01:34 PM Ok, that was just something that has always puzzled me. I'll admit, when it come to going that deep into the engine, I'm stupid! I have never seen the top of the engine with the valley pan removed so that's why I had no idea of a black hose but since you elaborated on that, now I know that it's there. Just another reason I don't get into modding. I'd end up blowing up another car lol.
Sapperfire July 30th, 2010, 02:12 PM --la la la la- *dances around* what?!
97SilverLSCcobra July 30th, 2010, 09:06 PM Laser thanks for the pics. I have since taken the engine loose from the k/member, because the original one is still in the car. I did'nt know that about the faster steering ratio in the '93 steering rack so I might switch those. I decided to use the k/member on the car because, the one that the engine was on has been converted to shocks and springs and the car still has good air ride on it. He gave me a bunch of parts with this car! He had a Thunderbird S/C and he gave me a Sway Bar, an extra rear-end w/ positive traction and 3.27gears! Plus he gave me the tranny that came with the car (79k) and the one he got with the engine which was rebuilt when the engine was so it has 15k on the rebuild. Than he asked me if I wanted two superchargers from the supercoupe so I got them too!!! I will be posting a thread with the tranny for sale the one that came out of the car with 79k miles if anyone needs it let me know.
P.S. We dont need anymore blown up Mark Viii's around here Steve. Can't make Huntsville look bad!!! lol
Sapperfire July 30th, 2010, 11:28 PM Swapping to a 93 rack would be nice, but you'll need the k member for that, because of the bolt holes
LaserSVT July 30th, 2010, 11:29 PM Swapping to a 93 rack would be nice, but you'll need the k member for that, because of the bolt holes
Negative. Thats 98 that you are thinking of.
