I got mine from OReilly's... Only ones that had one in stock... All are the same price/warranty.

Salvage yard $20, rebuild is about $40...most rebuild shops around here offer 1 year warranty...then you get your current one rebuilt and you'll always hve a spare

and just from having good common sense, I would do that before I got one at auto-zone..I don't walk in that place unless I've tried every other option to the point of fail

O'Reilly's has Ultima alternators and normally they are in stock but if you will ask for a Motorcraft reman alternator, they can get you that but it takes about a day or two. Some of the Ultima alternators they have might even say Motorcraft on the back of the casing but it is not rebuilt with Motorcraft parts. It has a lifetime warranty and I went through 3 of them and finally told them to take the difference and let me apply the additional money to just get a real Motorcraft rebuilt alternator. Did it last any longer, I really can't answer that question because I blew up the car. :D

I still have that alternator and plan to use it as a core to purchase another one just like it for "just in case" purposes. Right now I am on my 2nd Duralast alternator from AZ in my 95. The first one lasted 3 months with no electrical additions and very few WOT's. I do not dog my car out in any way and why the first one lasted only 3 months, I have no clue but my choice would be Motorcraft and would have been that day but I didn't have time to wait for it to be shipped to O'Reilly's. AZ or Advance can not get the Motorcraft reman alternator for you. Napa is just to damn high priced and I don't even bother with them. The Motorcraft from O'Reilly's only has a one year warranty also. Keep that in mind. The Ultima has a lifetime warranty and YOU WILL use it.

I'm usually an advocate of Motorcraft parts, however I bought an alt for my first 94, it was also before the price went down considerably... I payed somewhere over 400 bux for that alternator. It died 1 year and 2 months later, my a-hole parts manager wouldnt warranty it for me. So I bought an AZ alternator for far less $$$. I went thru the first which was DOA, and the second lasted like 2 weeks, this one has lasted about 4 years. I didn't care because it has a lifetime warranty. Most rebuilds these days are just tokyo-tuffy brand rebuilds anyway, its just who puts their name on it. Just get one with a lifetime warranty.

I got mine from DBElectrical about 4 years ago, a 220 amp for around $220 with shipping-they are in Tennessee, it handles all demands in my opinion is a better choice than an OEM-it is set up to handle the sometimes outrageous demands of these cars at startup, especially the suspension compressor. I have 2 OEM
alternators on a shelf in my garage as backups, but will gladly part with them after almost 4 years-don't need them now.

12 amp charge will be fine and getting the belt back on should be listed and shown under your hood. Maybe someone took yours off.

www.paperformance.com

Their site says they don't have one for our cars but they do. You need to call them to get a part number and price. They are lifetime warranty and the mustang crowd swears by them.
