im getting the altinator rebuiltinvisiblem0nst3r July 22nd, 2010, 03:41 PM So my altinator took a :q:q:q:q and I found a shop that charges 30-60 and one year warranty is this good Sapperfire July 22nd, 2010, 03:45 PM That's about right, my alternator is also in a rebuil shop right now.. However I told them that this is a show car in progress and would like it powder coated..he offered to paint it for me and clean everything up nice... Worst case will be $60 for mine he only offered paint, since the closest place to powder coat around here is about 2 hours away in Dallas invisiblem0nst3r July 22nd, 2010, 03:47 PM What tools do I need LaserSVT July 22nd, 2010, 04:14 PM What tools do I need 10mm socket and a wrench. I wouldn't suggest you rebuild it yourself. You prolly would damage it removing the bearings. Plus getting the brushes to sit right is a PITA if you are not familiar with the procedure. What he said...I was going to do mine myself, but the parts, plus shipping...and my labor...easier to have someone else do it with a warranty invisiblem0nst3r July 22nd, 2010, 08:30 PM ok so i take it to the shop that rebuilds these things and he tell me it has mitsubishi internal parts and they are special order and by the time he is done i should of just baught a new one so where should i go vatozone, pep boys, oriellys, or napa? the dealer wants 443 plus tax Sapperfire July 23rd, 2010, 02:30 PM Whoever has one with a lifetime warranty LaserSVT July 23rd, 2010, 02:54 PM I ain't proud of it but I am currently rocking a Vatozone alt....... well Sapperfire is anyway until his is done and he brings mine back! Wasn't by choice though. Car died on I-35 and there was only a single alt in a 250 mile radius and it was Vatozone. Normally I wouldn't care cause it is a lifetime warranty and on a Mark its a sub 10 minute job.... unfortunately on my car it is now a 40 minute job and requires coolant, o-rings and burping the cooling system. Soooooo I will prolly buy a high output kit and rebuild the Autozone alt with a better rectifier and better bearings. :) Sapperfire July 23rd, 2010, 04:54 PM Just picked up my alternator, was $45 for the rebuild, they replaced the brushes and regulator, didn't replace bearings invisiblem0nst3r July 24th, 2010, 01:47 AM Just picked up my alternator, was $45 for the rebuild, they replaced the brushes and regulator, didn't replace bearings wish it was that easy for me i just spent 203.00 for a reman alt and serpentine belt | |||||
