93-97 Ebony and 98 Midnight Black difference

Is there a big difference between the two?

I have a 97 and the drivers door panel is shot.

Would a 98 black work ok or would it stand out?

How about seats?

Ford paint code for black is UA.you shouldn't see a difference unless either of the cars has been repainted.Sometimes when a black ford car gets repainted they use the 99k black because it is cheaper than the proper UA.The UA has a brown tint when put next to the 99K. My car is UA but the paint is 99k,found this out the hard way,my right rear quarter panel and hood dont exactly match.Car fax showed the car had hail damage and was repainted by a unknown bodyshop before i bought it.

Yes, 97 is way "lighter" then the 98 Ebony, so much so I have to paint some of my Gen II panels to match better with everything else. Stupid Ford!

Actually, 97 is Ebony. 98 is Midnight Black. I have both. 97 is definitely darker, and more 'black'. 98 is more along the lines of Charcoal. You'll notice a difference, believe me.

ebony and midnight black are nothing alike. you think black is black right, but 98 midnight black should have actually been called midnight charcoal, 98 has a much more noticable shade of dark grey as apposed to 93-97 ebony. a 98 door panel in a 97 ebony interior will look like you took a black door panel that sat in the sun for a year and put it in your 97.
