jona571 May 28th, 2010, 05:05 AM my cig lighter did not work so I checked the fuse to find there was not one in there so when I tried to put one in it poped as soon as it made contact theres 2 cig lighters front and back so is my problem the lighter housing it self or is my problem elsewhere,,,,,thanks guys
JoshMcMadMac May 28th, 2010, 06:07 AM Check for a penny down in the lighter. I do not remember the Mark VIII, but there may be cigarette lighters in the back for each passenger that you should check, too.
danny_holtermann May 28th, 2010, 10:06 AM i don't know about a penny, but your are gonna have to find the short that you have, maybe at some point in time a kid tried to hook up some lights and used the cig lighter and :q:q:q:qed your :q:q:q:q up, i would pull apart the ccenter console where the cig lighter is
NoLimit95 May 28th, 2010, 10:29 AM My 94 used to do the same thing. Turned out that it was just the lighter housing. Replaced with a new one (make sure it's grounded good) and it worked fine. The rear lighter never had any problem. Test the rear and if it works, it's most likely the lighter assembly itself.
Sapperfire May 28th, 2010, 11:17 AM My 93 had the exact same prob, turned out the ground on the dash lighter was junk, took it apart, cleaned it, works good....until I pushed it in a few days later and the plastic busted and it all fell in behind the cover...DOH
lsc8 May 28th, 2010, 04:01 PM i was always getting pennies down in mine and blowing a fuse as well. Must have happened four or five times.
danny_holtermann May 28th, 2010, 07:41 PM lol
Sapperfire May 28th, 2010, 11:33 PM Ever heard of a piggy bank? Or maybe just not being a slob ?
lsc8 May 29th, 2010, 01:28 AM i would keep change in my ash tray. Hit a big bump change comes out.
jona571 February 18th, 2011, 05:53 AM the fuse is blown and will pop again as soon as I replace it,,,no pennies in them?????
GMAN February 18th, 2011, 06:02 AM Common problem with Gen 1's. Remove the assembly and clean it.
NoLimit95 February 18th, 2011, 06:54 AM Or replace with a new one. I bet the one in the back works and don't blow fuses but the front one does. btw, the green ring that lights up spins off.
danny_holtermann February 19th, 2011, 05:27 PM i usually just put a bigger fuse in ..... lol don't do that
LaserSVT February 19th, 2011, 07:04 PM Ever heard of a piggy bank? Or maybe just not being a slob ?
STFU. Just cause I dont put change in my ash tray (its for ashes) dont mean others dont. I seem to remember you having $20 in change in yours.
Anywho, my 97 used to blow fuses all the time. It had a lto of ash build up in the barrel so I cleaned it out and cleaned the lighter and it worked perfect after that.
