I searched for awhile and really didn't find much that helped. Been running fine. 2 days ago I notice my interior lights won't coming on.

This happened about a year ago and after a couple days they started working again. Went to the store last night 8pm no issues. went to start it this morning and nothing.

None of the dash lights, after turning the key 4/5 times, started getting some dash lights. It was also making clicking noises back around the box and air ride switch also making an odd sound under the car on the right side, kind of where the starter is.

After a few more key turns, it started. drove about 2 miles back and forth from MacD's. Got home, turned it off and tried to restart it and nothing. Just more sounds coming from said areas. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Electrical is one my handicaps:(.

Thanks

 Ok Update, I just went out to explore a little more. Wouldn't start and still making low voltage noises. Turned the key a couple times nothing. Then left the key in the on position and it slowly started to power up dash lights. After about 30/45 sec, turned the key and it started. I let it sit (not running 5 min.) and started right up. Now it's starting every time. Any idea's?

Thanks again for any help.

check the starter wires too

Just got done doing that, everything looked normal nothing loose. Very dry and clean. Before the car wouldn't start the lights that come on when you open the door, hadn't been working for a day or two. Now there working again too.

I had checked the door switch's and they are not stuck. Like I said before, about a year ago they quit working for about a week and then out of the blue, started working again. That time it didn't cause any issues other than just not coming on. I really do appreciate the suggestions guys.

i wonder if you might have a corroded wire that burns thru after it has power for awhile. How do your battery cables look? I have an old 79 F that did what your describing and found that the inside of the battery cables were corroded.

I'll trace them back. I try and keep everything nice and clean, but gremlins always seem to find ways to mess with you. Thanks for the input.

my battery terminals and wires were soooo corroded that itd do what you just explained, it wouldnt start the car half the time, i changed the terminals and cleaned the wires pretty good and got a new battery and now everything is fine, that clicking noise that sounds like its coming from the air ride box, i traced it to the silver box ontop of the 10 disc cd changer, i just unplugged it and it would stop. it would only make that noise when i used the key fob.

Check the voltage at the battery posts and make sure its above 12 volts. Then check with one leed on the battery positive and the other on the chasis gound to make sure there is no resistance. Then move to the hot leed at the back of the alt and again make sure the voltage hasnt dropped much from what it read when going straight to the battery. Test this again when running. That should show you if the battery is dead, alt going out, bad ground or bad positive.

If thats all good then my next guess would be the contacts on the ignition switch are charred/carboned up.

All of you, THANKS!!! I'm going to have to give this one to Lsc8 he was the first to mention the corrosion. Went out and looked again, looked at the terminals everything was nice and clean. Then I looked and about an inch back, under the insulation rubber was a very small rise, very small. Sliced it open back to the spot and wha la white corrosion. Cleaned it up and put some no corrosion gel all around and into it. Everything seems to be back to normal. Thank everyone for taking the time to post your suggestions. I love this forum. Have a great day all!!!
