MarkVIII93 April 17th, 2010, 09:37 PM Went out today and went 12.72@106. On 16" nittos with 18psi. Ran very consistent 12.7 range all day. Glad I have my Billetflow cover brace because I had 2 runs with tooth rattling wheel hop. Unfortunately one of them was against a blown cobra for 20 bucks we ran again and I beat him by 2 lengths.

Now what do you think?
96mark8 April 17th, 2010, 10:04 PM yea did you spray?
MarkVIII93 April 17th, 2010, 10:11 PM Maybeeeee maybe not. Lol c'mon guys it was only a little 75 shot. Suprised me that it dropped a second. Still running cats on it too :-P it'll run that on motor next year. I'm saving for a deck height increase swap build.
98LSC32V April 18th, 2010, 01:24 PM Now what do you think?
Well I thought maybe his funky converter was like a 4500rpm stall and the shortned runner cobra intake gave him a lot of power so it was within the realm of possibility lol ...
MarkVIII93 April 18th, 2010, 01:59 PM Im running a 3200 stall. I'll upload some vids for ya guys it was a no et night so the times don't show up on the board. Unfortunately I did'nt have time to find a blow down tube before so the car couldn't be run at the track with spray but tech inspection could not find my solenoids or nozzle so they didn't even know I had spray so I got off pretty easy there. I'm not running a bottle heater either so pressure was hitting 900 maxed so it was'nt even reaching it's full potential. Another reason why I felt it unnecessary to run a blow down as the pop off valve is rated for 3000 psi. I plan to hit low 12's next time out on race gas and a 125 shot and a nitrous specific tune.
98LSC32V April 18th, 2010, 02:49 PM What kit do you have? Also, what 60 foot times are you seeing?
MarkVIII93 April 18th, 2010, 03:04 PM What kit do you have? Also, what 60 foot times are you seeing?
I have the nx ford efi wet kit. I was only pulling 1.7 60'. I plan on setting up my rear with frpp 4.30s because my trap rpms are low in 3rd gear and the gear should get me a tenth off in 60'. Im pulling the cats soon and I'll be back at the track with the 430s in about a month or so.
98LSC32V April 18th, 2010, 04:18 PM Only 1.7 60's? I wish I could get my car to hook like that. I usually trap 106-108mph on the 19's but with terrible 2.1-2.2 60 foot times. I'm guessing you are basically spraying off the line with the 3200rpm converter to get the 1.7 60's...

Spraying full track length with a push button. Only way to go. I have the hardware and tires to back it so why not? Here's my solo run and the fail against the cobra.

Thank you sir. I think a 100 shot with a bottle heater, 4.30, and a nitrous tune with race gas and no cats I will be low 12's.

When it's done right and you take proper measures it isn't a "motor killer" like everybody says. Higher octane fuel, cold plugs and mild timing is key to running reliable spray.
XLRVIII April 18th, 2010, 06:54 PM When it's done right and you take proper measures it isn't a "motor killer" like everybody says
agree'd but a "push button" kit is not even remotely close to proper measures nor done right.
done right its absolutely safe

Okay? How so? I've used a relay. Made sure every wire is of proper size, construction and quality. I've used correct octane rating fuel for the amount of nitrous. Monitered timing, and whether the kit is push button, wot switch, tps activated or window switch is left up to the discretion of the driver. You can't say it's not safe or done improperly... Me personally I dont trust wot switches on these cars because of the difficutly of mounting it. I dont trust tps or window switch boxes either because of the frailty and possibility of moisture penetrating them possibly causing a malfunction... Not trying to stir up sh1t with you because I know you're the best at it I'm just saying you can't justify my system is unsafe or improper because it's how I like it. Also in my kit's instructions it has a reccommended diagram for push button wiring.
MarkVIII93 April 18th, 2010, 07:46 PM I just did push button mostly because I wanted to be like Dom and Brian....
danny_holtermann April 18th, 2010, 07:47 PM you take your headlight out? hard to tell in the video, if so nice touch
MarkVIII93 April 18th, 2010, 07:49 PM you take your headlight out? hard to tell in the video, if so nice touch
LOL. Yeah, I have a cobra c&l inlet pipe with an open element k&n so It pulls in more cold air. I'm using a friends 03 cobra fenderwell pipe turned down with a 6" k&n soon though so I wont need to do that.
XLRVIII April 18th, 2010, 07:51 PM no but telling a bunch of folks who dont have a 4r75..that a "push button kit" is a proper set up is just irresponsible.
90% of the transmissions on this forum dont even have the mechnical one way clutch..and what do you think is gonna happen the first time the "spray the whole" track??
95% of these cars wouldn't complete a sucessful wot 12 shift on spray.
the best nitrous users in the country, spraying 350+ or more..NONE of them have a push button kit.
push buttons are for purges, which is also useless on less than a 150 shot.
an experienced nitrous user could easily make a car survive with a push button 100 shot.
"experienced" being the key word..
XLRVIII April 18th, 2010, 07:55 PM JAM UP PASSES though...
and you talk about losing to that cobra.
hell just the fact you were in the same zip code deserves a pat on the back
you left right with him..and made a race out of it.
you made him work for it, and unless he's familiar with your car.. you probably suprised the hell out of him...
XLRVIII April 18th, 2010, 07:58 PM Monitered timing
what are you monitoring timing with?
XLRVIII April 18th, 2010, 07:59 PM Makes me want spray :)
^^^case in point.
brandon GTF out of this thread
MarkVIII93 April 18th, 2010, 08:02 PM what are you monitoring timing with?
Old school ford ngs stars tester and made a couple short spray passes and checked spark plug burn pattern(once cooled down of course). Not a super efficient way but ya know. And that cobra was running 12.7s just as I was with 2.0 60'.
XLRVIII April 18th, 2010, 08:16 PM have you checked it with the spout connector unplugged?

It was funny because of course this cocky mustang owner comes up to me. Asks if I have a blower, my response is no obviously. We agree to run for 20. He then gets his car pulls up to my pit area with a helmet on waiting for me as im situating the bottle in the trunk. We pulled up to the staging lanes, he then asks if im spraying, I signaled with my hand " a little bit", he asks how much i tell him 75. He didnt buy it lol. Then after I lose because of the spin him and his friends are standing there he tells his buddys "he tried to pull a fast one on me saying he doesnt have spray" My response was "hey man you asked if I had a blower".
98LSC32V April 18th, 2010, 09:20 PM You need to get a WOT switch at least! What was your timing on the spray at WOT?

Do you have a wot switch on your setup? Like a rocker style? Im trying to figure out a way to mount mine but still retain the push button.
k9t8m April 18th, 2010, 09:56 PM wow great passes!
kustomizingkid April 19th, 2010, 01:06 AM Why can't I have spray Tommy?
fastmark1993 April 19th, 2010, 01:11 AM Why can't I have spray Tommy?
because gen 2's are for girls :D:D
htrdlincoln98 April 19th, 2010, 08:26 AM I would use the TPS switch. If your lookin into any switch other than th epush button go the TPS way. You have the best of both worlds then. The TPS switch cannt fire th eshot it the system isn't armed from the rocker switch. Thats what i use to do with my spray. launch the car then flip the switch when I wantn't to kick it. I MISS the spray BAD. Now I have my car running 13.7-13.6 all motor. Anyway if its not too much use the Tps you will never need to touch it once its set....

My friend did that with his kit on his 98 Camaro LS1... it was like a 200 shot, limited by the nozzle design.

Hi Everyone
What's up buddy, why did you get rid of the spray?

Yes I have a WOT switch, it came with the kit. I have the WOT switch and then an arming switch for the nitrous. I also have a bottle heater, 15 lb bottle and purge kit. I'm using a HSW wet kit, similar to the NX wet kit. It hits hard on the 125 jet ;)

Sup man I took it off when i was making the turbo setup. now I'm running the car NA for the time being. Cannt wait to finish what i started tho. Still lookin for work... The car is making some good passes now with the new pipes. haven't gotten a good pass yet but it goes 13.6's letting off and brakes. Seems like every pass it is going faster. brokeout last two runs this weekend and not running the whole way??? i want to put the system back on and go for the 11's not sure right now.

Yeah I have an arming switch too so it's not like I'm running straight power to the solenoid where if the pb is depressed it sprays. Idk if that clarifies anything. The kit isn't unsafe and I'll just ignore the haters... ;)

You still running the Sniper?
htrdlincoln98 April 20th, 2010, 08:51 AM yeah i'm still using the sniper with the irmc deleted. Its one of your base tunes you gave me. 3lsc no fine adjustments on it yet.

If it works for you then to He!! with others say right. Just make sure you let off the spray button if you get loose and lift or you may have a mess on your hands!
