what a piece of *hit!!!!!!!!!!

I am so *ucking pissed right now.

Im pretty sure I broke every single usable piece of the dash, broke the drivers seat switch bezel, broke the passenger window buttons, somehow broke the windshield, broke the shift selector applique, scratched the :q:q:q:q out of my newly refinished steering wheel, cratched almost every piece of the interior, got grease stains all over the seats, and there is blood all over everything from my hands.

Im so so :q:q:q:qing close to selling this car its not even funny. Im :q:q:q:qing tired of having a car I have to work on all the time.

I dont know why on earth I thought I could tackle a job as big as the heater core. I will NEVER EVER do one again.

I dont care how much someone charges to do the heater core, its worth every single penny!

Sucks to hear man. I'm glad I'm finding out from you rather than find out on my own how hard it is because I'm betting any money I would have at some point pulled out my "dead on" hammer and went to town ;)

My advise....have a few drinks, and play some call of duty to take out your aggression...

Ummm... really? I thought you were pretty mechanically inclined man. I did a BDA on my 97 a few years ago, actually thought it was pretty easy? You pullin our chain?

Though I did crack a windshield on my VII doing the core once. I left a screwdriver up top and pushed up on the dash, didn't take much pressure and pop, instant star! Good thing for comp insurance ;)

no im serious. This was on the CE. doing the BDA doesnt require pulling the dash. I coudnt get the heater core all the way out without nearly removing the entire dash assy, which is basically junk now kuz so much chit broke. I guess ill put everything back together this weekend and see how much of the damage is actually visible.

Well, yes the BDA didnt require full removal of the dash, but I assumed there wasnt much more work between a BDA and a heater core. Sorry it sucked so bad man... I had the dash laying on the front seats and I sat between the dash and the firewall to replace the BDA

i can vouch for chris the heater is core is way more involved then the blend door, you know how i do heater cores if my own ever fail, i run a hose from one heater core pipe to the other on the back of the pass head, no heater core at all!! florida no heat needed ftw!

I did a heater core on my old 87 LSC years ago and I have an extremely short temper. Well, did anyway back then. Take a break from it and go back at it when you're in the right frame of mind. I know how frustrating that job is so I hope it all works out for you in the end.

well i got the heater core out late last night, tonight i got the new one in, the BDA put back on, and the hoses hooked back up at the firewall. I decided to quit while I was ahead and worry about putting the dash back in tomorrow.

I could only imagine what you're going through pulling the dash out and trying to put it back in by yourself. This is the main reason I didn't do a complete interior swap over to black, because of the dash. Another set of hands would help out a lot. Like you, I can't count on someone to be here and help. I hope you get it back in today and get the nightmare over with.

Well i just finished. After I got someone to help me with the dash it went back together relatively smoothly. (3 hours later). On to the LSC and the vert.

Maybe it's the mechanic not the car.

Glad to hear it all went well. When we did my friends T-Bird we used an ATV jack to help with the dash.

Heater core would be a professional job for Dr. SVO if I ever needed it done. I see visions of Ripped Camel if I did it myself.

Not that this post is going to rub some tussin on it, but thedre are some people, and jobs that others should never do.

I personally love doing dash work, heater core, evaporators, blend and mode selection actuators.

Why? well I know my elevator doesn't go all the way to the top, but mainly because I love the challenge, I forget the member that can do the blend repair in 45min, but for the same reason, because everyone hate to do it, and I like to see if I can better my time at getting the job done, the faster I accomplish it the more money I actually make.

I have offers onthe local Mustang boards for heater core job for $200 and includes a life time warranty on the header core and not only includes the heater core but also a gallon of coolant, and a 90 day warrantyon the labor, 1999 and up Mustangs and 1997 and up F150's are $250 and include the same as the 1979 and up Fox bodies.

Funny thing is, I'd rather do a heater core then pull your gas tank and change the fuel pump.

And alot of it has to do with patcence, some people have alot, and some have none at all.

Ain't that the damn truth. When I did my steering column, wedging my 315 pound ass down in there like a pretzel was no fun at all. My arm got nice and scraped up doing the blend door. Small skinny mofo's have an advantage.
Now if you want me to bench press something up into place, that is an entirely different story.

That's funny you mentioned that, I was talking to someone about that and remembered hoe you were cringing at the sound of your cowl going "CREAK, CRACK, and CRUUNCH" and gave you explicit instructions to go back in the house so I could do my job.

But your right how could I forget the brake booster job, man that girl had NICE bewbies OMG NICE bewbies!!!!

Oh yeah, the booster suck ass, I'll do them again, but hell those are no fun.

On another note I'll take Marked8 and have him bench those 4R70W's back in the car for me, that is if I ever take one out without the motor attached to it, which will probably be never since I tried that one time on yours and it was more time to do it that way than it was to drop the whole drivetrain.

BTW did I mention that girl had nice bewbies? Oh I know Tiff remember's that girl super nice bewbies.

I have also reinstated the manditory short skirt rule again.
