Kstills March 22nd, 2010, 01:58 PM I'm reading (with great interest) a thread about spark plugs shooting out of the heads of our engines. And I'm wondering, is this a common problem or is it a once in a while problem common to all aluminum head engines?
And then I'm wondering, if it's common, why isn't it in the Tech section under things you might want to be really concerned about? Which got me thinking about how things actually get into the tech section.
An explanation of which may be on the site somewhere, but given the lack of user friendliness inherent in the search function, I thought it might work better to post my questions and get a mod to respond. :)
CobraStar_LS8 March 22nd, 2010, 02:03 PM Because Helicoil, Time-Sert, ect kits have instructions everywhere to do this so it's not needed in the tech section

Maybe.
I received instructions from American Air on how to install my coil conversion, yet our tech section has installation instructions also.
I imagine the tech section as a depository of information related to Mark VIII specific problems. And if this is one, or more common to this vehicle then others, I would propose putting an article there.
XLRVIII March 22nd, 2010, 02:29 PM its a frequent occurrence with most any of the early 4.6 and 5.4 modular motors.
it's so common a "sticky" would be kinda stupid.
Anyone that has been around modular motors for ANY length of time, has known, heard of or been affected by this issue.
XLRVIII March 22nd, 2010, 02:30 PM it'd be like putting a stick up for a "leaking air bag"

All of which may be true, however some of us haven't put 400k on grandma's car, if you get my meaning. :)
XLRVIII March 22nd, 2010, 02:43 PM it's not about 400K...
it's about being familiar with the common known issues with the engine in your car.
launching spark plugs isn't a new occurrence...by any stretch of the imagination.
there are only about 26,000 google search results

XLRVIII March 22nd, 2010, 02:49 PM Kstills,
Rather than trying to tell people "how to properly run their website".
you "COULD".. go register your own domain name, create a message board.
Then you could put up all the worthless sticky's as you like.
no need to take up space here, with common well known issues..
If we had a sticky for each well known common issue with these cars, then it'd take up the WHOLE first page.
WE dont need no stinking st00pid sticky's about spark plug threads.
XLRVIII March 22nd, 2010, 02:50 PM Notice the posting date on this thread.

I "THINK" this issue has been very well covered... over the last DECADE.
The first reply to that post was
"Look on down this forum, There are many threads on it.
Jimmy"
HAHA
see they didn't even think it was "sticky material"...7 years ago
LMAO

XLRVIII March 22nd, 2010, 03:59 PM Honestly, I dont eat those things.. they make me mean.
I did just come back from a safety meeting, so you can expect a kinder and gentler tommy as can be seen in my last post.
The earlier posts were pre safety meeting for comparisons sake.

Ok, we'll be looking out for a kinder Tommy. I have had anxiety since 99 or really earlier and I get 120 of those each month. They just make me laid back and not worry about nothing. They don't make me mean. Jamie and jrherald420 can vouch for me on that. I'm extremely easy going. Although I did need about 3 after the explosion that night but it's all good now lol.
Safety meetings........ I need to get involved with those.:)
XLRVIII March 22nd, 2010, 04:06 PM yea.. they bring me down from outright azzhole to just mean.. they dont fully "do the trick".
So I have another solution for getting laid back and to make me not worry about anything.
Works Reeeeeeeeal gooooder.
kustomizingkid March 22nd, 2010, 04:44 PM I've had a safety meeting with Tom... good times...

Yeah, I think that's the :q:q:q:q that gives me anxiety lol. I got away from that years ago. "Doesn't do the trick for me so well"
Kid, stop while you're young. :D
NoLimit95 March 22nd, 2010, 05:03 PM Tommy, I bet your solution is sometimes "sticky" so maybe yours could be what was asked for here lol

Tommy,
Not necessary to act like this. :)
I'm asking a question, you are not a mod, but you're an important part of the forum. I appreciate your input, but that's about as far as it goes.
Remember, it's a common issue to you. As the coil conversion is a common issue (as of now) for me.
However, when considering buying this vehicle, I knew nothing about any of these issues.
Which is what makes posting them in the tech section so much handier then wading through endless posts using the search feature.

Lol.
Now, if I didn't know this was a problem, why would I google a search for it?
See?

Get some guns (or more guns) and go shooting often. Shooting crap takes care of anxiety.
Icarus March 22nd, 2010, 08:35 PM Write up an article and see if Joey will post it in the Tech section, I don't see why he wouldn't. There's one there for change the front pads which is even more common and everyone will have to do at some point (or take it to a shop.)

Thanks for the input. I should probably have posted this on the comments section....:)
