Infarc March 19th, 2010, 08:24 PM Did you paint the chrome or get it like that? That's my car right there, except I swapped ostars for the chrome 20 spokes. Looks good, for now, till the drive tomorrow :( Here are some pics of mine - http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa110/KC93MarkVIII/93%20Mark%20black/ That's a bit of a story. I used to have a 1986 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe which I purchased brand new. That car had painted chrome from the factory, but the chrome was painted with sort of a textured paint, it was flat black while the rest of the car was glossy black. When I bought this car, it was painted the same way, with all the chrome in a flat, textured black. I am not the original owner, but I figured it came from the factory that way since it exactly matched the way my Tbird had been painted. As I started reading up online, I found that no one BUT me had painted chrome like that, so I assume that whomever had owned it before me had painted the car in that fashion. When I repainted the Mark, I painted it all gloss black. I'd put either Octastars or 10 spokes on it if I could find a good set at a reasonable price. Staffamerica74 March 19th, 2010, 09:49 PM The same can't be said for the other 16 year old dd in the driveway :( Infarc March 19th, 2010, 09:55 PM The same can't be said for the other 16 year old dd in the driveway :( Nope, that's the donor. But it is keeping a few other Mark VIIIs alive and me ripping parts off of it is STILL treating it better than the previous owner, so don't be sad! ford nut March 19th, 2010, 11:07 PM I think it looks kick ass with the 20 spokes! Go Fast Get Tickets March 20th, 2010, 07:30 AM I think it looks kick ass with the 20 spokes! The chrome 20 spokes and/or octastars look best on a black Mark. Just my opinion. I had some chrome 10 spokes on mine for awhile and didn't like the look, so I swapped wheels from my grey 93. 10 spokes on the opal grey look bad azz. ripped camel March 20th, 2010, 10:16 AM Wow that looks really good! I'm usually not a fan of the way the headlights and taillights look on the gen 1 but your's looks DAMN GOOD! Infarc March 23rd, 2010, 01:08 AM Wow that looks really good! I'm usually not a fan of the way the headlights and taillights look on the gen 1 but your's looks DAMN GOOD! Thank you! MediumD March 23rd, 2010, 06:06 AM Throw some Cobra R's, tinted tails, and HID housings on it and you'd have a clone of mine. Nothing beats a black 1st gen IMO. UltimateSVT March 23rd, 2010, 11:14 AM Great lookin car man... looks identical to my 93... Except that red dot on the side... lol, j/k man... Sweet looking car. Like mentioned above, look at my before & after, a set of Cobra R's & VOILA, very nice looking car! http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b26/Ultimatesvt/101_1639sm.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b26/Ultimatesvt/101_1104s.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b26/Ultimatesvt/101_1043s.jpg Infarc March 23rd, 2010, 01:27 PM Yeah, if I kind of squint my eyes to blur out the wheels a little, that's like I am looking at my own car. Kinda strange! Tinting the rear light bar is out of the question, nothing can dim the glory of my sequential tail lights! :) UltimateSVT March 23rd, 2010, 11:34 PM Yeah, if I kind of squint my eyes to blur out the wheels a little, that's like I am looking at my own car. Kinda strange! Tinting the rear light bar is out of the question, nothing can dim the glory of my sequential tail lights! :) +1 on that. I dont have sequental tail lamps but I wouldn't tint them. They look too damn good! I tell you one thing's for sure though. I'd love to come up with clear front corner lamps for our black Marks. Our cars would look sick without the amber on the sides. Just pure clear. MediumD March 24th, 2010, 06:58 PM ^^On any color but black I'd agree, but they look pretty sweet tinted on a black car... Clear corners are the next appearance mod I'm going to attempt. Not quite sure how yet. | |||||
