Can anyone tell me the significance of the ducks on the older caddy insignia?

Everywhere i go, i have to stop and point them out to people..

i beleive i know if im wrong someone tell me,
cadillac was the name of the french duck hunter whe first settled the detriot area. now there taking the ducks out of the logo. people always turn their backs on history u know. tut tut tut

hm i was wrong mabey about the duck hunter part. according to the above link mr cadillac stole the crest and it diddnt say anything about why there on it that i saw
