1sweet8 March 14th, 2005, 10:33 AM I have a 96 Mark and I want to replace the factory wheels. I know that the factory bolt pattern is 5 x 108 bolt circle with a 39mm offset, which it turns out is a b***ard size to find for aftermarket wheels.
I have a friend who is willing to give me a set of 17 inch wheels and tires he took off of his BMW 7 series. The wheels are 5 x 120 bolt circle with a 13.5mm offset. Is there any way to make these fit? The wheels and rubber are almost brand new - he used them for 1 summer and they have been sitting in his garage since. Can they be "modified" to fit?
unstoppable March 14th, 2005, 10:59 AM You could buy adapters but thats the ghetto way of doing it.
If it were me I would just find a different wheel.
DOHCtor_Mark March 14th, 2005, 11:47 AM The most popular thing to do is a Mustang hub swap. The front seems to be really easy. The rear still has be perplexed. I'd love to do it but, the hub/brake issue gives me headaches just thinking about it.
Jamler3 March 14th, 2005, 11:57 AM There are plenty of wheels that are cool and will fit the Mark.
I wouldn't even attempt to put those Beamer wheels onthe car...
Too much work and effort. Check this link... This Wheel is almost like
the LSC wheel for the MK8, and had the same Bolt pattern.

1sweet8 March 14th, 2005, 12:11 PM Thanks guys - a couple more questions, if you don't mind.
Why are adaptors bad? I admit that i don't know the first thing about them, but it would seem that theoretically they would be a good option.
The reason i was trying to adapt these specific wheels was because they were free to me with the rubber included. I don't really want to get into modifying the hubs on the car, but if i could use a spacer or even have the wheels modified for my use and for a reasonable price, i would love to do that. Is it even possible to modify the existing wheel?
Thanks.
DOHCtor_Mark March 14th, 2005, 12:13 PM says it only comes in 5x100 and 5x114

ONEBADMK8 March 15th, 2005, 01:39 PM We do have a great wheel selection, we carry Dip, Mazzi, Ion Alloys..etc. I just do not have them up on the site.
djKale March 16th, 2005, 12:30 AM Those wheels are out of the question. The offset is RWD, you need a FWD offset wheel. (not to mention the correct bolt pattern).
When you are looking for wheels, you need a "high offset" wheel, not necessarily 39 or 40 or 41, etc. It also depends on the wheel width since offset is measured from the center of the wheel to where the wheel mounts. This means that if width increases and offset stays the same, the wheel sticks out further than normal (which could possibly cause rubbing). As the wheel gets wider, you need to add offset in order to keep the wheel tucked inside the fender well.
