i need help asap

im changing my plugs and i got 1-4 done 1-2 had oil in them and i cleaned it out of them. i went to start it and black smoke came out the pipes. also the car is like puttering real bad when i rev the engine. what is going on what should i do. i did one at a time and put new ones in. HELP PLEASE

probably leaked some oil in to the cylinder. Remember there is a 3k rpm rev limiter so if you are reving it while in P or N then it will cut out at 3k.

To address the overall problem you need to replace the VC gaskets.

just thought id let you know what it was. like el ls said it has a 3k rpm cut off and that the only reason it was shaking, i had no clue about this. thanks abunch. also the #1 plug was a little loose (hard to get to). any way im taking a break till next weekend to do 5-8 they look hard to get to. thanks again.

When I did my wife's car, I had smoke fill the garage pretty bad. 5-8 is a little harder. :) I had to use different length extensions on different cylinders to get everything right. You don't want to apply any side pressure when changing those plugs and you could crack the valve cover by the plug well like someone did to my wife's car.

I would suggest checking those wet wells in a week or two to see if you have oil there again. If you do, then this plug change was a good warm up for you to do the valve cover gaskets. I might be doing the same thing in two weeks.

Did your plugs say NGK on them? Mine were the original Ford plugs, and had NGK on them, and "Made in Japan". I have never seen that before.
