Strange

Well today I got into my Mark first thing in the morning. I started it up and got ready to drive. When I put it into drive and hit the gas my Mark started to hesitate, just like the old carbonated cars do if the choke in not adjusted correctly. So I started started to go slow. When I turned out on to the road I put it down to the floor and the car was acting like it was hitting a rev limiter. Problem went away once I drove for a 1/4 mile or so. Any ideas on what it could be?

car was cold, if you get on a stone cold mark viii it will not rev out until it warms up a bit

Sounds like my old Road Runner. That car would bitch and complain until it warmed up a bit.

I had one of my 02 sensors on my t-bird get burned by one of the headers. So when it was cold, it would stumble until it got to op temp.

that has nothing to do with the issue he is describing with the rev limiter feeling he felt when he stomped on it...when the car is cold it will hesitate (rev limit) until a certain temp...now the other issue the stumble when first starting could be a number of things

Is it programmed to do that? Or is it just the nature of the engine?

My 94 had that problem for a couple months even at normal operating temp. Sometimes it wouldn't rev past 3.5k, sometimes 2.5k, sometimes 5k. Never did figure out why

im assuming its programmed...every Mark VIII i have had has done that when cold...but within a minutes driving, it would stop...its worst in cooler temps, below 50degrees on start up

Good to know... It was really close to 50 that morning when it happened. Think the temp said something around 53.
