This question is for those MK VIII owners who've changed their exhaust to true dual exhaust. Now I know there has been a lot of threads regarding this issue. I am just trying to be absolutely sure before I go forward. I don't want to risk not passing inspection. I've heard from other Mark owners in Houston who have had problems in the past. I don't want to be one of them. In this picture, is this actually a third Cat or is it a sound resonator?

What is the function of this? Is it only to deaden the sound?

no that is the resonator, the third cat is the Y shaped thing in front of it

Yeah, i was down under my mark for the first time the other day. Looked like there was a cat in each header and a cat where they meet.

important note thats a gen 1 exhaust gen 2s are nuttin like that. i am sure most of knows this but for those that dont.
