My power antenna stopped working. The motor runs, but the antenna doesn't move. I've seen these things on ebay "an antenna mast" anyone had any experience with changing one?

AZ has them for around $20 and takes about 10 minutes to change. If you have a remote control head unit, it makes it much easier. Nothing to it. Remove the old one and make sure to get it all out and then turn the radio on, get your new mast ready to be geared and then turn the radio off and feed it and then it will take over and finish the job for you. Roadboss December 18th, 2009, 03:38 AM I bought 2 of them of EB and will install one some time in the next week. Instructions very clear should not be a problem. slickemhoundd December 18th, 2009, 04:31 AM if you want one weekend we could go to the junk yard, i dont think ipulled all the antennas ;) Go Fast Get Tickets December 18th, 2009, 07:00 AM Don't buy the eBay crap, I went through 2 before I ponied up the $$$ and got an OEM mast from Max. NoLimit95 December 18th, 2009, 08:35 AM if you want one weekend we could go to the junk yard, i dont think ipulled all the antennas ;) slick, I wouldn't bother with the antennas from the yards because the teflon teeth get brittle and over time just simply get worn down. Now if you want to make a little money, I would get the whole unit out of the trunk, take it apart and make sure all of the teflon gear is out of it and install a new one for resell. Probably wouldn't make enough to justify. I bought my mast from AZ 2 or 3 years ago and it's still working fine till this day. jrherald420 December 18th, 2009, 11:12 AM I bought one from ebay, when the motor took over it worked so good it snapped the plastic inside the mast. Atleast the mast is stuck up now and not down. Trippen Out December 19th, 2009, 09:11 AM I bought one from ebay, when the motor took over it worked so good it snapped the plastic inside the mast. Atleast the mast is stuck up now and not down. i had the same problem with the ebay crap i picked up as well. as for the autozone ones. i tried one of those and well and it would not fit. i ended up grabbing one out of the junk yard. unity December 19th, 2009, 12:31 PM Well its not just the gear, but the nylon line that is inside that can crack and usually does. I would never get a used one unless it was dirt cheap - which honestly they should be from a yard. | |||||
