Where is the number 3 cylinder on a V6?

Just got code P0303 and I ordered a COP and will be replacing it this weekend. Who knows with a high amount of certainty where the number 3 cylinder is? I know it is the passenger side, but is it the middle or rear cylinder? Gen 1 V6 ls.

COP #3 will be the third cylinder from the front (belts) on your left side

Sure do. It's passenger side, in the back (closest to firewall).

The order is as such:

Firewall
3 6
2 5
1 4
front

And if you ever wondered, the firing order for the V6 is 1-4-2-5-3-6

Thanks!! Looks like I have my work cut out for me this weekend. This is the worst one to work on. But I have been there and done that so it should go quickly.

Gotta love Murphy's Law. It ESPECIALLY applies to anything car repair related.

depending on your other coils on that side's conditions, you probably want to change any original coil on that side. If you have already changed one, change the other two this time.

Thanks guys. Got it done last night, only 3 hours start to finish and that is not too bad for an amateur mechanic. Car runs great today. BTW, I also changed out the spark plug, just in case there were problems with it.

Milehighmikey - I can do this fast enough that it does not make sense to change out coils that don't need to be replaced. Thanks for the idea though.
