I have a question on the 04 LS v8 as my recent purchase now has 20,000 miles on it...

Under slow acceleration the transmission shifts firmly/hard into each gear. Also, at times, when the transmission shifts into into 3rd or 4th gear, the engine will jump up/rev up 500 rpms prior to shifting into gear. For example, if the engine is at 2000 rpms and the tranmission is shifting into 3rd or 4th, the rpms jump up to 2500 then the transmission shifts... This only happens when entering 3rd and 4th gear and is not consistent...

Under moderate or faster acceleration the transmission shifts smoothly w/out over reving.

Any thoughts on the firm shifts and over reving?

There is a TSB that covers this. Iwould take it to a lincoln dealer/shop and have them address the problem.
