I trying changing the center console on my Gen II. The console is loose and ready to be taken out, but the shifter is still in the way. How do I get the shifter off?

you can remove the console without removing the shifter. If you must, you need to slide the plastic right below the leather downward. once it slides down, you will see 2 torx screws. Thats all that holds the handle down. Are you sure you have the console loose? Did you get the 2 screws behind the rear defrost button and the 2 inside the console storage box?

I forgot a couple steps. The easiest way to get it out is to remove that metal piece in front of the shifter. http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss55/micahsfamily/022-2.jpg Then remove the 2 clips at the back of the shifter. I totally forgot about them. :D http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss55/micahsfamily/023-2.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss55/micahsfamily/024-2.jpg
