So apparently 613 Mark VIIIs were traded in for CFC350TPI September 23rd, 2009, 05:44 AM I found this on another site.Sad to see so many traded in. Copy and pastewww.cars.gov/files/official-information/trade-in-vehicles.pdf Staffamerica74 September 23rd, 2009, 08:00 AM Yeah i saw a 93 or 94 at the local dealership here ground_zero298 September 23rd, 2009, 08:40 AM I'm pretty sure with free money floating around their were some stealerships that took any car u brought them. Someone always finds a way around the system. brentalan September 23rd, 2009, 09:18 AM can you repost that link? It does not work. 350TPI September 23rd, 2009, 09:29 AM can you repost that link? It does not work. Copy and pastewww.cars.gov/files/official-information/trade-in-vehicles.pdf richduty455 September 23rd, 2009, 11:18 AM thats crazy....people traded in vettes? no impala ss's tho and a lot of mark viii's? 156 94's but only 1 97?????......and the part that makes me sick...someone traded a GNX in for cash for clunkers??? I HIGHLY DOUBT that.....but if someone was dumb enought to do it and the dealership did it....then they both deserve to be murdered!!!!!!! Even from a monetary standpoint it doesn't make sense LaserSVT September 23rd, 2009, 11:28 AM A GNX!? Someone needs to be shot! They are worth over 20K are they not? Its sad about the Marks. I figured a hundred or so but not that many. :( Figure mist people sell them for under $2000 and it makes financial sense but still..... that sux. :( ford nut September 23rd, 2009, 11:32 AM Ya I saw that 77 vettes. How about 24 Lightning pickups. There are some gt40 heads you can kiss goodbye. One was a 2000!!!!! stupid..... just plain stupid. dnehthend September 23rd, 2009, 11:40 AM if I were trading in a car for that program it would be stripped of everything that is not required to keep it running before they ever saw it I hope whoever traded in their cars feel like real badasses in their new Versas wood_e September 23rd, 2009, 11:41 AM This thread is depressing... rooster1969 September 23rd, 2009, 11:53 AM My friend works at a dealership, said it was depressing to watch them ruin perfectly good vehicles. It`s sad that the Govt. did that, there are plenty of deserving, down on their luck families that could have used some good reliable transportation. UltimateSVT September 23rd, 2009, 12:07 PM OK.... I HAVE TO VENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SORRY IF I OFFEND ANYONE! My personal opinion like it or not is that this SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED!!! Yes, they should have donE the Cash for Clunkers deal but all collected good running vehicles with no major mechanical issues could've been shipped to third world countries that need them. Now u see why they hate us so much around the world? There are people riding in Flintstone type vehicles in other countries yet here we are destroying perfectly good cars, some in amazing shape. Just because they "chug" a bit a fuel. Then there are the fu****g RETARDS that traded them in for C4C knowing the fate of their own car. How FU****G cold are they? I know cars dont have feelings & I know its just material things but how much cerebral palsy do u have to have not to realize what u are doing? There was an idiot that traded in a 1984 MASERATI!!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!?!?! Look it up on youtube to find the video. Calabrio September 23rd, 2009, 12:24 PM Yes, they should have donE the Cash for Clunkers deal They shouldn't have done that ridiculous program at all. It was an idiotic, wasteful government program that used borrowed taxpayer money to destroy wealth. The program is a failure on every level. Icedphoenix September 23rd, 2009, 12:34 PM how did the dealer take the mark 8 and get paid when i looked up mine on the gov web site just to see (showing my gf that she needed to get rid of her pos chrysler) my mark 8 and her chrysler both did not qualify so how did so many get traded in and approved dnehthend September 23rd, 2009, 12:35 PM must suck to be stuck in your 1978 pos truck knowing that hundreds of 1998 trucks are getting destroyed for fun and pleasure CC440 September 23rd, 2009, 12:39 PM Listen, a lot of these cars had serious issues that kept them from being worth more than $4500. Let's be honest, few Mark's can command that price and we've all seen how bad a bad Mark can really be. I would assume a lot of those Corvettes traded in were barely running under their own power or had crash damage. It's a great way to unload a ruined car. Same with that Maserati Bi-Turbo. It's a huge piece of :q:q:q:q with a great label slapped on it. A dealer would rather pay full trade in on a car they can sell again rather than have to wait months for government money that may not come for a temporary program. I am interested in how an SVT lightning was worth less than $4500. No shame in losing a bunch of those :q:q:q:qty 90's lightnings though. LaserSVT September 23rd, 2009, 12:54 PM YouTube - cash for clunkers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTYL-h5_hb4) richduty455 September 23rd, 2009, 01:12 PM how do you explain the buick GNX then????????????????????? bryantaylor September 23rd, 2009, 02:12 PM alot of those people have had the car for sale anyway for less then 4500 and they couldn't sell them. if i could afford a new car, i would have took off my aftermarket parts and traded in my lincoln too. you guys can complain all you want, but none of you or anyone else was stepping up and buying the cars that were traded. kustomizingkid September 23rd, 2009, 02:38 PM A GNX vin is worth more than $4500.... richduty455 September 23rd, 2009, 02:40 PM true, but offer me a buick GNX at any price of near $4500 and I will buy it, if i don't have the cash i will beg, borrow and steal! richduty455 September 23rd, 2009, 02:43 PM i remember 1987, i was like 3 or 4 years old....went to the buick dealership on roosevult blvd in philadelphia with my dad and grandpop...i remember looking at this black buick in the showroom, story goes that he wanted to buy a GNX and they had one in the showroom...sticker on it was 29,000, they wanted $59,000, obviously we didn't get it....but jeeze i can't believe someone would clunker one :( CC440 September 23rd, 2009, 03:13 PM The GNX is a weird outlier. I can't come up with any explanation beyond that it had been hit BAD and was just driveable enough to get on the lot. Huge shame about the motor, but at least it's salvageable for a minimum of 180 days. richduty455 September 23rd, 2009, 03:17 PM even hit bad, still worth more than $4500.....people are crazy!!! rooster1969 September 23rd, 2009, 06:14 PM 1987, My senior year. The GNX was one Bad ride then,........and it still is. thaywood September 23rd, 2009, 06:23 PM A GNX vin is worth more than $4500.... I saw a GNX in the DuPont Registry that was selling for $79K. Of course it was in showroom fresh condition with less than 20K miles on it. alot of those people have had the car for sale anyway for less then 4500 and they couldn't sell them. if i could afford a new car, i would have took off my aftermarket parts and traded in my lincoln too. you guys can complain all you want, but none of you or anyone else was stepping up and buying the cars that were traded. There is no possible way I'd trade my Mark in for a pos little FWD Japanese econobox. Not even if I could afford it. Absolutely. No. Possible. Way. Period. It may have a bunch of miles on it and a few minor problems. But it is fast as hell, rides great, holds me, my wife, and two car seats for the kids while getting 24mpg every day. I love my car!!! driller September 23rd, 2009, 06:31 PM This thread is depressing... The list of Lincolns traded for econoboxes is depressing. :eyeroll: A quick scan of the pdf reveals many dubious listings. :shifty: UltimateSVT September 23rd, 2009, 06:32 PM In this very thread we can notice the mixed opinions, the fact of the matter is, the C4C happened. I'm not happy about it at all. I'm all about the environment & I understand fuel consuption is affecting us, etc... but I just hope our nice President doesn't decide on a repeat of it. In all sincerity I think all it did was place thousands of people in debt & nothing says "I LOVE BEING IN DEBT" more than a Toyota Prius, a Chevy Aveo or a Hyundai Accent. LONG LIVE THE NEW GAY CARS! micahs97m8 September 23rd, 2009, 07:37 PM I am sad to see that many cars turned in. Hit up the junkyards that are getting them. Parts for everyone!! driller September 23rd, 2009, 07:42 PM The C4C program was for the environment? It has been shown the "carbon footprint" from manufacturing just about all the hybrid BS econoboxes far outweigh their supposed fuel savings. Mother nature spews out more 'greenhouse' gases in natural events in one hour than the C4C program 'saves' us in a year. argue2 http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/194328main_socalfire1-20071025_516px.jpg Stangman September 23rd, 2009, 08:01 PM Murderers... F'ing murderers.... And I dont normally think this way, but, it just goes to show that the gov sure seems to want to brainwash us and control us... The world is gonna turn out in 1 of 2 ways: MAD MAX or 1984 Mark my words, if something isnt done, I can feel it coming... Psychostang September 23rd, 2009, 08:03 PM The c4c program was one thing. Just another way to give all of the auto manufacturers another shot in the arm. This way they could get rid of their remaining 2009 cars. That's all, nothing more. OH, and as far as the rules reguarding who qualifies. Do you think the government or the dealers really gave a :q:q:q:q. As long as they are selling cars, that all they need to know. MarkVIII93 September 23rd, 2009, 08:32 PM I actually was accountable for one of those. It was a 95. micahs97m8 September 23rd, 2009, 09:42 PM I actually was accountable for one of those. It was a 95. what did you trade it for? You know we're about to call you a mark viii murderer and all that right? It better not have been foreign or an ecobox. kustomizingkid September 23rd, 2009, 10:38 PM He works at a dealer... I'm guessing he just killed it is all... LaserSVT September 24th, 2009, 12:24 AM Oh, good. I was about to hate him as I was reading his mods in his signature. richduty455 September 24th, 2009, 08:07 AM no jap eco box for me never!!! What year is your Grand Prix? NYC LS8 September 24th, 2009, 05:25 PM no jap eco box for me never!!! Same here. I'm picking something up Saturday that gets even WORSE gas mileage than my LS. :D NYC LS8 September 24th, 2009, 05:26 PM Oh, and I'm far from a Vette fan, but that's a damn shame. MarkVIII93 September 24th, 2009, 05:51 PM KK's got it, My boss saved that car for me to blow up lol. Didn't take long at all either. I would never do that to any of my cars...My mark will live forever. Unless it gets totaled it will always be mine. Aquabrit September 24th, 2009, 08:05 PM You gotta be :q:q:q:qting me... There's a 1997 Aston Martin DB7 Volante on that list... Not to mention, a 2008 Audi A4 Cabrio, a 2005 Mazda RX-8, a 2000 Jag XK8 vert etc. etc. Are people really that moronic? All of those cars are worth considerably more than $4,500. I don't get it... I sooo would have paid $5000 (or more) for that DB7, had I known it was going to be ruined!:mad::mad: LaserSVT September 24th, 2009, 08:42 PM A 1998 Jag XJ8? WTF!?!
