Tru-Blu September 18th, 2009, 06:51 PM Yes, I know it's a fairly cheesy title, and you're probably going to think it's a fairly cheesy mod. Also, I'm not really the first one to do it, but maybe to do it to this extent.
My goal was to try and make my baby look unique and/or special, but in a way that someone might think it came from the factory that way - like a special edition of the LS. I don't know if it came out looking that way, but I really like it. It will look much better when I get the Eibachs on (they came today), tinting, and some better wheels.
Anyway, here's pics of what I did. Feel free to tell me it looks stupid or lame if you think it does - although I'm pretty happy that it turned out the way I hoped it would.

2002_lincolnLS September 18th, 2009, 06:58 PM that looks pretty good man. the only reason i dont like it is because im not one for badging on my cars but the custom work looks nice.
Ls208 September 18th, 2009, 07:00 PM doesnt look bad, i think putting them in diffrent places would be better and probably take the one off the back, there is already a lincoln sign back there, no need for another one IMO. i was thinking maybe if you relocate the ones on the sides to the space between the rear windshield and the back windows.
but i dont know.
btw, you got a beautiful car, i love a white LS
Icedphoenix September 18th, 2009, 07:09 PM now make it real, a nice 4.6 dohc motor to go with the emblems seems like the next logical mod:D car looks sharp btw
Lincoln Luebbe September 20th, 2009, 09:37 AM Badges look good, but I would move them above the trim strip. Great looking car! I have a black version!!
PetesSweets86 September 20th, 2009, 11:41 AM why do you guys think he's the first to put the cobrastar on an LS? I'd like to see all other cobrastar LS's raise your hands right now. Hell evem mine has them (did it after detailing my car) on the fenders and if you do'nt believe I bought them just ask ONEBADMK8 :P I'm trying to get him to make LVC shirts you can look good in to the bars, clubs, or meets.....
2002_lincolnLS September 20th, 2009, 11:46 AM whether or not hes the first doesnt :q:q:q:qing matter he wanted to know what we thought of it on his car... he and no one else said wow thats a cool mod ive never seen....
PetesSweets86 September 20th, 2009, 11:49 AM I'm just puzzled why he thought he was the first. It is nice but I would also remove the LINCOLN and LS off the rear and keep the cobrastar. Look nice on the fenders too. I'm just stating an error in his judgement...
XxbmxlsxX September 20th, 2009, 12:55 PM i dont think the car looks aggressive enough in stock form so it doesnt work for me. especially with all the other emblems on it still. now mod the car, get aggresive, put a nitrous purge coming out of the cobra mouth and then it will be cool
XxbmxlsxX September 20th, 2009, 12:57 PM he also stated that he wasnt the first to do it. the emblems are cool looking themselves
05 LS8 September 20th, 2009, 01:19 PM The car itself is a beauty, but i personally don't like emblems on there. As long as you like it, thats all that matters.
gt95coupe September 20th, 2009, 09:08 PM I like the car and color but Im not a fan of the emblems. I would shave all the emblems off the trunk.
Calabrio September 20th, 2009, 09:21 PM ...I like emblems, I just don't understand why LS guys are interested in putting the Cobra-stars on their car. The MarkVIIIs have the engine association, I can understand that. But the 3.9V8?
Maybe someone could sketch out a Jaguar-Star or something?
lincolnx2 September 20th, 2009, 09:25 PM ...I like emblems, I just don't understand why LS guys are interested in putting the Cobra-stars on their car. The MarkVIIIs have the engine association, I can understand that. But the 3.9V8?

you should be happy tht us LS guys like SOMETHING from the Mark. :)

I dont get it either. I guess you can say it more represents LMS than anything but Geno still dont have much for the LS if anything. I think just mufflers that will fit like universals.
Its just the same with the Jag, nothing but myths. It dont have THAT much in common with it either.
And now I learned that at some point even the chassis which shared the most in common was still switched up a bit before the 2nd Gen LS was made.

I too am curious about that. Isnt the LS V-8 Jag bassed? Maybe a Kitty holding the Lincoln badge. :D

Aquabrit September 20th, 2009, 09:54 PM No, its just us people under 80 years of age, perfer the LS over the Mark 80.
I dunno, x2 - most of the people I see driving Diamantes / Galants are pretty old... :p

Sorry, having a hard time reading that through my cataracts. :p

I was behind a LS the other day and my fathers exact words "I really like those Mitsubishis. How much can I get a Galant like that for?"
I told him it was a Lincoln and he refused to believe me. He still wants one though. :D
PetesSweets86 September 20th, 2009, 11:08 PM yur dad must drive a Mutsubishi town car right? I mean only our headlights look like Mitsubishi

There's no accounting for taste...
otherwise you wouldn't have bought that Lincoln diamante.... I mean gallant.. I mean 3 series.. I mean LS.
But's it's always funny when guys who drive a four door sedan that was predominantly sold with a six cylinder engine, and later only had a 3.9 liter V8, say that forward thinking, 2 door luxury sports coupe, with better identifiable styling, more horsepower and better performance, is for "old guys."
JWerner2 September 21st, 2009, 12:18 AM yur dad must drive a Mutsubishi town car right? I mean only our headlights look like Mitsubishi
Our cars look nothing like a f*cking Mitsubishi man!
I honestly dont see any resemblance and I previously owned a Galant!

You guys got us on power hands down but not in styling.
Alax7 September 21st, 2009, 12:41 AM Maybe he thought he was one of hte first cause he just joined and hasnlt goen through enough threads to see what out there..... I like LS208's idea of putting by the back passenger window.

No one ever said my car looked like a knock off of a Japanese car that looked like a knock off of a German car.
JWerner2 September 21st, 2009, 06:20 AM No one ever said my car looked like a knock off of a Japanese car that looked like a knock off of a German car.
No, they just flat out say it looks ugly.
Again, I dont see how any sane person thinks it looks anything like a Diamante or a Galant. Thats just stupidity.
And what German car is this now:lol:
Tru-Blu September 21st, 2009, 08:14 AM To those who think I said I was the first person to do this, go back and read my first post. I said that I was NOT the first person to do this. To Alax, I HAVE gone and read a TON of the older posts and knew of SEVERAL LS owners that have put these on their car.
To others that have the "I don't know why you're trying to give the impression that you have a 4.6L in your LS", I'm not. Never did want to do that. If you go back and look at my first post, my goal was to try and make the car look a little unique or special from a stock LS. Yes, yes, you don't need to tell me that I can also do that with springs, wheels, and such. I already have the springs and will be installing them in a couple weeks. Wheels are a much more expensive mod, and I won't be able to do that until next year. This was a low-cost mod that I felt looked good on the car - the more I thought about doing it, the more I liked it. I pretty much knew that 99.9% of this board was not going to like it. If you reread my first post, I pretty much said that in the first couple sentences.
I will readily admit that I'm not a Lincoln purist - i.e. my ride has to have a Cobra-star worthy engine in it to use the emblems. Heck, I think most regular folks outside of this board won't even know what the Cobra-star emblem really is for. I put them on for looks - nothing more. My car is never going to be something like Quik's, which is probably one of the few LS' out there that would be worthy of them.
A couple of people have posted that if I do like them, then that is all that matters and they're right - that's really all that matters.
I did learn something with posting this thread that I should have known well before I posted it - if you're wondering whether most people are going to think that something's a dumb idea, then it's almost a guarantee that they will indeed think that. So, it was probably even dumber of me to post it.

No, he drives a Toyota F-150 Lariat :p
Actually the rear looks ALLOT like the Galants rear. Not sure what years but around 2000+ would be my guess.

I seriously see no resemblance at all!
LaserSVT September 21st, 2009, 12:32 PM No, not at all. Cats look like cats, dogs look like dogs and LS's look like Mitsu's :D
Thing is I would pick an LS over a Diamante or Galant any day, even if it was a sixer.
bagge72 September 21st, 2009, 01:01 PM I wish I drove a 2 door taurus/spaceship with a lincoln badge on it!
1LoudLS September 21st, 2009, 01:16 PM when i bought my 1st gen my girlfriend (at the time) bought a 02 galant because she thought it looked a lot like my car, and it had leather seats so it was a luxury car at half the price of mine (she thought that she got a good deal and that i got ripped off) then she drove my car a few times and realized you can wrap a turd in leather if you want to but at the end of the day your leather covered turd still smells like sh!t
Tru-Blu September 21st, 2009, 01:19 PM Hey Baggie,
You can! Make your wish a reality! Get your special and unique Taurus/spaceship edition Lincoln badges at www.stupidlincolnmods.com!
They're only $320.99 each, so I would put at least 8 on that special ride of yours.
When you're done, make sure you post at least 15 Hi-Res pictures and get ready to receive the accolades of your fellow taurus/spaceship owners!

1LoudLS September 21st, 2009, 01:53 PM ouch, you got me good,
one of these days blue, to the moon!
JWerner2 September 21st, 2009, 01:56 PM Wow, I cant believe you guys really see anything in resemblance to the two cars!
To be honest, we loved our 01. Nothing like the LS but no where near the common issues and TSB's. It didnt have leather but was reliable, sturdy as hell and had good MPG's. A good DD car for me.
Andrizzle September 21st, 2009, 02:31 PM Haha the LS looks nothing like a mitsubishi. You have poor observatory skills in automobiles if you think that.
And X infinity on the Marks looking like spaceships, the hood is as long as the rest of the car and the '2 door' door covers the length of both of our doors.
lol goofy lookin' car for sure.
LSFantasy September 21st, 2009, 02:45 PM mmm...
Alax7 September 21st, 2009, 04:53 PM Take it easy buddy in the end it is your car so if you're happy with it then good. People do have different taste.I was looking at your pics again. It would look cool if the cobra was on the surround emblem instead of just the lincoln emblem.

What are those two door late 90s Buick Rivieras, they look like Mark viiis. Oh wait, they are actually better, not in one but in many ways.
I had a Mark viii too for quite a long time and gave it up for the LS. It was time for something better. Yes its got ALOT more balls than the Mark does etc..You guys should look into doing that, but from what i see you one want to be driving around in the same damn car your whole life.
Lets watch the video.

PetesSweets86 September 21st, 2009, 11:21 PM you know many vehicle look similar. And face it...all Midsized SUVs are roughly the same skeleton and same for fullsized SUVs. So just face it....just be happy your LS catches people's eyes and you might be asked if it's a BMW if you delete your badging :P
Calabrio September 21st, 2009, 11:25 PM Or I could just get a mark VIII, and it would be the same thing.
Actually, there's no similarity at all...
it must suck when you try to so hard to be clever but only end up looking like tool.
However, the LS does share an engine with the Taurus...

I have driven them. Ive driven every model including a V-6 Stick (was only a mile to bring to my other lot) and I like them. I believe I had said that in my earlier post, that I like them and I was just messing around.
If I needed a 4-door then it would be pretty high up on the list of cars to choose from.
So please, don't take me ragging on it seriously, its all in fun. I thought it was funny when I first joined here and saw that there was a rivalry between the two cars here.

I actually had a SC Riviera, was a nice car. The Mark is much nicer IMHO and I hate FWD cars. The Mark is much more balanced and easy to read at the limits. The Riviera, not so much.
So opinions vary, I tend to buy what I like, not what the magazines tell me to. If I listened to MT then I would only own a BMW.
I am a true car enthusiast, I love most cars and I do like the LS (see above reply) and have owned more cars in the last 18 years then most people will own in a life time. I have had BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, 300z's, RX-7s, Supra, 14 different Stangs 4 of which were Cobras and one was a GT350, couple Benzes (older 560 and a S500), Corvettes, F-bodies, Trucks etc etc. I like cars and switch allot. I loved the Mark VIII when it came out but couldn't afford $45K so when they dropped in price and I needed a reliable DD I bought one. Its actually been the most reliable and dependable car I have ever owned. I wont own it forever, I really don't know how long I will own it for.
Now IDK what the mods available for the LS's exist but from lurking here it seems its quite few. My Mark was simple and cheap to modify and can carve a corner excellent and accelerate very nice and I haven't even installed the gears and Trac Lok I have sitting here yet. I have Hemi 300C's and Chargers messing with me all the time and I always walk them. My buddies 04 GT with a 100 shot and full exhaust with a tune can just hang on my rear bumper if I launch it well and if its from a roll I pull a length and a half and hold it till 100 when the car pulls farther away.
I know my car is significantly faster then a LS though.
Hey, lets look at the stock specs:
HP: LS8= 280 VIII= 290
TQ: LS8= 286 VIII= 290
Weight: LS8=3768 VIII=3760
0-60: LS8=7.5 VIII= 7.0
1/4: LS8= 15.7 VIII= 15.2
MPG HWY OBSERVED LS8=19 VIII= 26
So how exactly does the LS have ALLOT more balls?
I drove an 02 V8 LS for a few days when I traded my friend my 93 RX-7 R1 for the week. I drove the piss out of that car and really pushed it. Its a nice car but it is weird at the limits and not very confidence inspiring through the corners. I am sure better springs and shocks would make a big difference though. On my Mark changing them and adding better sway bars made a HUGE improvement in the twisties.
Also a 528i really embarrassed me at a stop light when i had the LS. :(
So how about this. You like your car and own it. I like my car and own it. They are both very nice Lincolns and very sporty. They each have their weak and strong points and appeal to different people. They are better then their Riviera and Diamante counter parts. We can all be friends and take pride in our American built luxury sports cars and flip the bird to ricers. Sound good?
Also i wont poke fun at the LS anymore as I do like the car and some day may own a LS8.... is the LSE the top one?

We can all be friends and take pride in our American built luxury sports cars and flip the bird to ricers. Sound good?
Also i wont poke fun at the LS anymore as I do like the car and some day may own a LS8.... is the LSE the top one?
Hey LaserSVT, i wasn't tring to be a d%ck. I just don't like when people try to twist the truth about LS being this and that and underestimate it.I don't like BS in general.
I RESPECT your likes and dislikes, but it was starting to get a little out of hand. I loved the Mark viii as much as you do and was a Mark viii enthusiast. I still think those cars were designed way ahead of their times.
I had my Mark car for about four years, and had nothing but a lot of fun with it.
As i mentioned earlier, one day i decided it was time for the car to go and got the LS. I was actually planning on buying another Mark viii but I like the LS so much more that i forgot all about the Mark viii. Not planning on buying another one anymore.
If you compare a stock Mark viii to a stock LS, the LS is faster.
One day i got a chance to race the guy i sold my Mark viii to and pulled about 1 1/2 car lengths on him. Then i just let off, cause i was still pulling away from him. He pulled up next to me at the next light and he said "holly sh%t that thing is fast". BTW, my Mark viii (it was a 95)ran 14.7 at 97.6 mph in quarter mile. So i know it wasn't slow. It had gutted cats and magnaflow mufflers as far as the engine mods went.
Two days ago i raced one of my buddies from the Mark viii car club that i am part of. We were already rolling, maybe doing about 25 to 30mph and we both got on it and took it up to 65mph. As i got on it, just started pulling away from him. Left him 2 carlengths behind me. He called me up on the cellphone and said "i can't believe i just got smoked, those things are a lot faster than i thought".
BTW, I don't have any mods done to the LS. Its all stock....for now.
Also, the HP and TQ numbers don't always tell you everything. The LS comes with 3.58 as far as gearing goes, Mark comes with 3.08s(first gens). The LS has 5 speed tranny instead of the 4. The compression ration is 10 to 3/4 which is high compared to Mark's 9:8. It has some advantages over the Mark viii.
Laslty, the only difference between the LS and the LSE is, the LSE comes with a body kit and all the chrome that you would get on the LS6 or the LS8 is body color matched on the LSE. The LSE looks better, thats all.
I hope i answered all of your questions. If i left anything out let me know.
PetesSweets86 September 22nd, 2009, 01:36 AM you know for a 4.5L vs the 3.9L with the stock numbers for HP/TQ I'm suprised the Mark8 isn't more...that's .7 liters more and you only got an extra 10HP and 4TQ......suprising...but then again your performance mods put the LS into dusty trails...so bravo to that.....
05 LS8 September 22nd, 2009, 01:58 AM Wow! You put up a GM video as your proof that a FWD Buick with a venerable pushrod V6 engine is better than a Mark VIII?
LMFAO!!!
Nice try...
Buick Riviera better in many ways my f*cking ass...
Who was the one saying "I dunno, x2 - most of the people I see driving Diamantes / Galants are pretty old..."
You are the one comparing Mitsubishi to a Lincoln. You go get a fu$king clue then we will talk. You compare a Jap crap to a luxury Lincoln.? You got a lot of learning to do.
You were the one asking if i even had a mark viii right?
Here are some pictures of it, should be enough to satisfy your thirst.

That was something called... A joke! (you can tell it was a joke by this icon: :p)
I have a lot of learning to do? Coming from the guy who thinks a Buick Riviera is better in many ways than a Mark VIII?
Yeah...
PetesSweets86 September 22nd, 2009, 02:14 AM Who drives a Buick besides the chinese anyways?
bagge72 September 22nd, 2009, 11:46 AM Actually, there's no similarity at all...
it must suck when you try to so hard to be clever but only end up looking like tool.
However, the LS does share an engine with the Taurus...
Actually it doesn't suck at all, because I was comparing the look of the cars not how how they are made or what they used for parts, just like people are comparing the LS to the Mitsubishi, but maybe you were to smart to realize that! Or did you think that people were comparing the LS and the Mitsubishi, because they use the same motor, drive train, and electronics?
And if you think I would ever feel like a tool for something said on a message board you take to much stock in hiding behind a keyboard to leave messages to try and make people feel like a "tool". I prefer to make myself look like a tool in person for people so they have a chance to tell it to my face.
Andrizzle September 22nd, 2009, 12:03 PM Who drives a Buick besides the chinese anyways?
Tiger Woods ;)
Calabrio September 22nd, 2009, 12:15 PM Actually it doesn't suck at all
Perhaps you've just gotten used to it....
maybe you were to smart to realize that!
You are correct.

Good luck with that, you're doing fine so far.

Perhaps I have. You make a great point.
You are correct.
That is usually what happens.
Good luck with that, you're doing fine so far.
Thanks I appreciate that, I can tell by all the other replies to my comments made on this thread of how much of a tool I am actually being. ;) I cant wait for you to quote this too, because that is what cool people do, they quote people online because they couldn't interpret a joke. Ahhh it must be fun getting old this simplest things seem funny, and you get to drive cars that remind you of those spaceships from those old black and white movies you use to watch when you were a kid.
Tru-Blu September 22nd, 2009, 03:36 PM Ford Nut-man, I guarantee you that if you add the snakebite mod to your frig, it will actually cool your entire house without any additional electricity, and your food will look faster <I don't know why that would be of value, but it sounds good, doesn't it>
TRU - is your refrigerator running?.........you'll definitely have to go catch it if you add the snakebite mod :D

Look on the right hand side of your screen.
PetesSweets86 September 22nd, 2009, 11:51 PM what engine you runnin on that fridge...but I can smoke it and leave ya with a cold shoulder :P
Skidsmint September 23rd, 2009, 12:00 AM There isn't anything on the right side of my screen, I'm on my iPhone. Do you have a link you could post? Thanks.
Tru-Blu September 23rd, 2009, 12:14 AM send a PM to OneBadMk8 to order the emblems
TDUB September 23rd, 2009, 12:15 AM I'm now glad I didn't get the Cobrastars, the only thing I'd want Mark related in my LS is the engine. :D Actually I don't mind Marks. The older ones don't really do much for me but the 96 & 98 LSC and the Collector's Editions are good looking cars. Don't read this the wrong way but I kind of see the Mark as an old man's Mustang. It's a 2 door RWD V8 coupe but with all the amenities of a luxury car.
PetesSweets86 September 23rd, 2009, 11:56 PM bump b*tches! haha
FabolingLS8 September 24th, 2009, 12:38 AM hey tru, i have a suggestion.
if you really want to make it look like you somehow got an upgraded LS, here's the route i think you should take.
First, imo, the way you positioned your side emblems under the side barrier(lol i have no idea what it is called), just looks way off. if i drove right beside you, i could immediately tell that you did that yourself.
*Take a look at the LSOTM and see the way Pektel And Lincoln Luebbe put theirs on Above the barrier. It sits well with both cars. And im pretty sure most cars do it this way. Like the fox body(99-04) Mustangs. The Pony or GT badge sits around the same area. Try it Tru!
I think the back of the LS looks all jumbled up on the right side. What you could try to do is on the left side, possibly put a decal or maybe an LVC emblem(If there is one) above LINCOLN. it would definitely look proportional after that. Or if that's not your taste, please do this for the next two suggestions. Go out and buy Red Lincoln Emblems! They will compliment the Red Cobrastars very well. You would put on the front grille and the back rear surround.
*what i think would be a cool mod is if you incorporated the rear cobrastar into the rear surround somehow. that would be a nice project! heck lol order another cobrastar and see if you can put it on the front side of the grille! but yeah try to move the sides tho! its bugging me a little!
Calabrio September 24th, 2009, 01:17 AM The older ones don't really do much for me but the 96 & 98 LSC and the Collector's Editions are good looking cars. Don't read this the wrong way but I kind of see the Mark as an old man's Mustang. It's a 2 door RWD V8 coupe but with all the amenities of a luxury car.
The 93-96 look alike.
And the 97-98 have the baleen whale grill.
Unless you're only interested in the monochromatic trim..
Tru-Blu September 24th, 2009, 07:41 AM Faboling, thanks for the reply and I like your suggestions. I actually did think about putting the fender emblems above the trim pieces like Pek's V8 emblems. The more I thought about it, the more I felt that it might stick out too much in regard to someone looking at the car. However, I'm not dead-set on leaving them where they are. They still may end up where you suggested.
On the trunk, I'm going to pull the Lincoln and LS V8 emblems, and then move the cobrastar down a little bit more on the right side. That should clean things up a bit more.
I do have one more cobrastar emblem to play with. The original idea was to put it on the far right side of the trim piece above the glove box, but the trim piece isn't wide enough. Plan B was going to put it on the lower fascia grill, but the wife thought it might be emblem overkill (heck, almost everyone here agrees that one emblem is overkill).
I'm liking the idea of red lincoln emblems - any idea of where I can track those down? Would that be LSKoncepts?
Thanks again for the feedback and suggestions - MUCH APPRECIATED!
TRU
FabolingLS8 September 24th, 2009, 09:55 AM yeah LSKoncepts is where its at, they have an ebay store too. but check out there website first
