dash kitlloydrage September 11th, 2009, 09:45 PM has anyone put on theirs? how does it look? CrackerJack September 11th, 2009, 10:08 PM what do you mean by "dash kit?" Instrument cluster? radio? vents??? lsdarkshadow September 11th, 2009, 10:11 PM has anyone put on theirs? how does it look? Are you refering to a Stick on 3M kit? lloydrage September 11th, 2009, 10:11 PM no the dashkit that makes your interior carbin fiber or all wooden, etc lskoncepts.com sells them lsdarkshadow September 11th, 2009, 10:25 PM no the dashkit that makes your interior carbin fiber or all wooden, etc lskoncepts.com sells them I'm pretty sure that's not a replacement, but a 3M vinyl that goes over the existing kit. I too would like to see a finished product. I hate the wood and saw a Gen I stainless kit. TDUB September 11th, 2009, 10:51 PM Quik has the all wood one check out his interior pics. CrackerJack September 11th, 2009, 11:29 PM Quick and another guy here in MN, he hasnt been on in a long time though, jk##### or something... 15798 or something like that. It actually looked really good for just stick over covers gcwimmer September 11th, 2009, 11:37 PM Real American Walnut Burl wood stick on like what Ken sells on lskoncepts.com gcwimmer September 11th, 2009, 11:44 PM Some of the extra pieces I did not use: myfirstlincoln September 12th, 2009, 10:49 AM There are soooo many dash kits out for the ls...just search "lincoln ls dash kit" in google and you'll find a variety of kits - everything from diff style woods to carbon fiber, to silver, etc. I guess I'm one of the few people on here who kinda likes the "wood" look. Anyway, I was checking out this site: http://www.carid.com/product.php?productid=34178&cat=1579&page=1 I was looking at the wood types and apparently 03 and up lses have real american walnut burlwood....However, the Real Walnut Burl (RWBW) on that site looks way too light. The wood in my car looks much darker - more like the Medium Burl (SMBW). Obviously I'm looking to match what already exists in my car, so I don't have all kindsa different wood types/colors. Anyone know which type/style wood would match the interior the best? I'm very confused at this point. Also, notice you can even get real wood on that site instead of simulated. Oh..and I just checked lskoncepts.com and see one of their options is "factory wood match" - guess that makes it easier haha CrackerJack September 12th, 2009, 02:20 PM Not diggin the steering wheel cover wimmer :( throws off the interior of the car... Love the dash kit though! :D What did you pay for it if you dont mind telling? gcwimmer September 12th, 2009, 03:31 PM Not diggin the steering wheel cover wimmer :( throws off the interior of the car... Love the dash kit though! :D What did you pay for it if you dont mind telling? http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/lincoln-ls-dash-kit-p-58.php That is cheaper then what I paid 4 years ago. Steering wheel cover because the OEM was sun cracked in 3 years, and I prefer the thicker leather grip as much as I like wood, the OEM wood steering wheel is too hot in the summer in Reno, it is more of a function over style thing. XxbmxlsxX September 14th, 2009, 09:29 AM i took my woodgrain and covered it with fabric, looks waaaay nicer and much more high end classy than wood or vinyl. woodgrain eewwwww Lincoln ave September 14th, 2009, 10:29 AM My opinion they look cheap and like garbage. I have seen them in a few cars can't stand that look. lloydrage September 14th, 2009, 10:42 AM havent seen them in real person so not sure didnt want to buy if they look fake and not factory Lincoln ave September 14th, 2009, 11:25 AM They never look factory, But just go look at some used luxury cars. Alot of people end up adding the kit, I see them added to alot of the 2000-05 acura tl's. But I have seen them in few LS's also on the lots. NYC LS8 September 14th, 2009, 01:39 PM Fake wood grain over the silver plastic looks bad no matter how you slice it. Maybe painting the silver a nice flat black then applying the wood grain might look better, but the silver peeking out really shows how fake it is. Tru-Blu September 14th, 2009, 01:49 PM +1 to NYC's response. If you search either here or CarDomain for the LS pics, you can see some that have the kit, and will clearly see the silver peeking through on the edges. That'd be a deal-killer for me. I like the walnut trim, but it's gotta be clean looking to have it in there. TRU Garbone September 14th, 2009, 05:48 PM Sorry for doing this, but I have a question on the top panel, in the middle of the console. It is the one that has the 2 vents, and the "fuel/reset/setup/status" buttons in it. How does it come off? Are these stuck on with clips? Will those "Christmas tree" clip tools remove these? A plastic wedge, with some prying force??? My buttons pushed into the panel, and I cant get them back flush, without taking this piece out completely. Tru-Blu September 14th, 2009, 06:53 PM Garbone - wow, I'll give you credit for wanting to make sure someone gets to this for you. Hopefully you've got it off by now and all is well. Good luck, TRU jolinc01 September 14th, 2009, 07:21 PM Garbone- It just pops out. It's got tabs in each corner IIRC. My buttons just pushed in like that 2 weeks ago, and I had to glue them back on. Tru-Blu September 14th, 2009, 07:28 PM Yeah, I replied to Garbone for this on a different thread. He posted the same question in about 3 or 4 threads to try and make sure someone responded to it. I think we got him covered. Hopefully he's on the other side now. - Go into the light..... all are welcome in the light..... TRU jcookejr27 September 14th, 2009, 07:32 PM I also had to glue my buttons on couple weeks ago. is about the only way to hold them on another than buying a new vent piece:) myfirstlincoln September 19th, 2009, 09:37 AM Hey gcwimmer, you got any close up pics of your dash kit? Can you see the silver from under the kit peeking out - at the corners? In your pic from the back seat, I can't really see much silver. JWerner2 September 19th, 2009, 09:44 AM Go out and get some of the stainless steel paint for home decor. I found it at Wal-Mart. IMO, the LS has the perfect amount of wood trim as is in stock form. If you want more and have the sport just swap out the wheel and knob for the basic model with wood trim. Thats what I did and it made the wood trim so much more presentable. Since when is wood trim in a Luxury car not appealing and not classy? I can say when over done it looks like sh*t! Other then that just paint the trim to a color of your liking. Any of those stick on things look like crap. EDIT: For some extra cash there is also a few sites that you can send the trim out to and have something creative done. The tools and paint some of these guys use is way more than just a rattle can and in most cases is worth the extra money spent. Its not worth squat if you don't do it with taste;) gcwimmer September 19th, 2009, 10:50 AM Hey gcwimmer, you got any close up pics of your dash kit? Can you see the silver from under the kit peeking out - at the corners? In your pic from the back seat, I can't really see much silver. As you can see there is the original silver half round bar that separates the radio and the climate control, the slot for the CD, the area around the climate control LED's and the raised portion of the shifter that you can see the silver plastic, the wood pieces taper down at all edges, it is not a sharp ridge. I see this as an accent since I have the sport with real aluminum pieces not as it is "peeking out" I applied the real wood pieces because I did not like all of that plastic. If Lincoln had used real aluminum like my other pieces I would have left it alone. I like my look of real wood and real aluminum and not so much plasitic, painted or not......to each their own. PetesSweets86 September 19th, 2009, 12:47 PM http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/SUP633-99-CF.htm you can choose whatever pattern or color you want for your dash.... myfirstlincoln September 19th, 2009, 03:33 PM Gcwimmer, I'm with you. I kinda like the wood dash and think yours looks real sharp. drag214 September 20th, 2009, 11:38 PM I have the kit in my Gen I LS Sport. I installed the wood steering wheel and transmission shifter knob. The pictures on this tread do it no justice. I realy like the kit. I don't know much about cameras. My pictures are too big. Otherwise I'd post some pics. JWerner2 September 21st, 2009, 12:33 AM GC's look good cause it pops like the OEM pieces but that other stuff is garbage. I still think its overkill though. I think painting its the way to go if you want a solid color cause your not just hiding something you dont want. PetesSweets86 September 21st, 2009, 02:18 AM my dealer says a great idea would be to color match the interior to the outside :P lsdarkshadow September 22nd, 2009, 12:15 AM Dope dealer?:D :D :D PetesSweets86 September 22nd, 2009, 12:17 AM yes...my dope dealer does cars too :P lsdarkshadow September 22nd, 2009, 12:20 AM Most dope dealers do. It's those pesky crack dealers that ride bikes. drag214 September 22nd, 2009, 12:21 AM Dope dealer?:D :D :D :bowrofl: LMAO drag214 September 22nd, 2009, 12:34 AM I still think its overkill though. +1 I didn't use the whole kit. Garbone September 22nd, 2009, 06:38 PM Has anyone done their dash, and have the very top cover, where the "FUEL/RESET/STATUS/SET-UP" buttons are, and the top A/C vents left over in the "sport" silver finish? The screw bosses for the switches busted, and the switches push into the cover. I have had it off, and it looks simple enough...just need the cover. Anyone? drag214 September 22nd, 2009, 10:51 PM Has anyone done their dash, and have the very top cover, where the "FUEL/RESET/STATUS/SET-UP" buttons are, and the top A/C vents left over in the "sport" silver finish? The screw bosses for the switches busted, and the switches push into the cover. I have had it off, and it looks simple enough...just need the cover. Anyone? I'm not sure if I'm tracking. Your talking about repairning the center vent cover. Your controls for the message center have broken off. Is that correct? drag214 September 22nd, 2009, 10:57 PM Garbon, sorry about that. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Yeah I had the same problem. The center vent pops right out. I put some glue on the message center controls to make sure they wouldn't come off again and covered the vents with the dash kit. Garbone September 25th, 2009, 11:46 AM Yeah, I replied to Garbone for this on a different thread. He posted the same question in about 3 or 4 threads to try and make sure someone responded to it. I think we got him covered. Hopefully he's on the other side now. - Go into the light..... all are welcome in the light..... TRU Yes, I got it off. It was real easy, but the bosses that the switches screw to, crumbled in my fingers, and I now need a new top panel. Anyone out there have a sport silver top panel laying around??? Garbone September 29th, 2009, 04:16 PM I guess not....:( NYC LS8 September 29th, 2009, 04:17 PM You try eBay at all? jk52781 September 30th, 2009, 12:47 PM Quick and another guy here in MN, he hasnt been on in a long time though, jk##### or something... 15798 or something like that. It actually looked really good for just stick over covers Come on CrackerJack, you would not forget your MN meet friend John (jk52781). Yes I have the overlay pieces on part of the dash. I will have to take some pics, but that probably will not happen. I feel so lazy today. ZWilson07 December 1st, 2009, 06:04 AM im thinking about doing the same thing. I had all my pieces except for the door pieces sent off to be professionally painted. they are color coded matched exactly to the outside of the car. i also have silver smoke going thru the pieces which actually looks nice, not overdone and ricer like but in the long piece in front of the shift, it says smoking inside of the smoke and I dont like that. me and the company got mixed signals with it and its to late to get it fixed so its kind of been bugging me. also i didnt get the door pieces done so their still silver which I thought would still compliment the interior and it does ok, but im still not sure. So im thinking about getting the kit and covering all my door pieces and maybe one piece on the dash so to where its jus ceramic white like the outside and wood grain in the car instead of so many things clashing you know. this is an old thread but I was just putting my info | |||||
