I've bought a pair of Alpine 5.8" screens and headrest installation kits. I know it sounds stupid but I want to try to put them in my headrests myself, it seems fairly easy and i'm very knowlegable about car audio but of course I'm still kinda nervous. Any info, comments or suggestions that I can get would be very appreciated

depending on the year - it should be easy to do. IIRC, the headrests changed in 02 - where the 00-01 were hollow (making install the screen easy) the 02's were not. Doesn't mean it won't work - just more work.

Making the upolstery look right is what would concern me most.

I agree, not a task for the lay person by any measure.

That's the same company Circuit city uses and from what I've seen they're pretty reliable. It's also easier to put your original head rest back in if the screen goes out or you buy a new LS. :L

Well I worked up the nerve and went ahead and started cutting, my LS is an '01 and it worked out really well, where the supports come up into the headrest about 3 inches it was a little harder there gettin the leather to stretch over the corners cause I had limited depth to mount the bracket but I think it turned out really well, I'll try post some pics if you guys want when I work up the balls to do the other one.

I really like to know if they seem to close to the passenger. It doesn't seem like enough space to be comfortable for extended viewing.
