Hello to all. Please help me with this pressing issue. I am seriously considering a 2000 LS V8. I have one problem. In nuetral or Park, there is no way to get it above 3000 rpm. It is either totally FUBAR, or there is some kind of mutant Rev limiter. It runs fine in Drive. Please enlighten me as to what is the deal. Thank in advance.

It's called the rev limiter. It keeps you from gernading the transmission. It's there on purpose!

@ 3000 rpm? I have never heard of a rev limiter below redline. Are you sure?

Yep, it kinda sucks, cause you can't rev the engine real loud next to those annoying civics and such. It almost seems as though their car is louder than yours.

So much for being able to show off the power of the LS when not moving.

You can turn that off with the SCT flasher right?

correct - I have mine off right now. Those of you with a PCM speed limiter can remove that as well (if you promise not to over-run your tire rating...) :Beer

Have you been able to get first gear with the SST at full stop?

Not yet. Our SCT dealer needs an LS at his dyno shop to work with the tune. If anyone is interested contact Torrie with Ford Parts Network at torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com. He's offering free dyno time and tunes for someone in the St. Augustine, FL area. He only needs about an hour to work out 99.9% of the tune issues with the SCT flasher.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Great! This is going to help out tremendously if you're able to hook up with Torrie. Not to mention get about $400 worth of tune and dyno time for free.

There no doubt a mutual benefit to this and I am most indebited to Torrie and you for the opportunity to be ginnie pig. I have beenthis excited since timothy leary asked me to be a ginnie pig for LSD and MDMA :).

More than anything I am looking forward to viewing the tools and methodologies involved. I will document as much as I can and take photos and small movies if allowed so the entire group can get some benefit from this.

If my engine blows I will be passing around a plate at the end of the weekend. :)... I am sure it is safer than crossing the street in your car.

Thanks for posting this opportunity.

LvC also keeps me from arguing with my wife. I just duck into the home office and hide till midnight then sneak into bed. LvC tunes my car and my life.
