Gen 1 ForSale $500 (Engine swap for my F-150?)

My plan would be to purchase the car, pull out the engine & tranny to use in my F-150 truck. I've always wanted a Cobra engine in my truck, it's the last item to check off in my list of upgrades on my F-150. My truck has 105,000 original miles, this car has 142,000 miles. Not winning on mileage but gaining power. I have a stock 4.6 liter OHC. The reliability of these engines are great so I'm not too worried about that anyway. What do you guys think? I'm sure this price is negotiable!

Oh & yes, I'd part out the rest of the vehicle!

Sounds like a cool project, and SHOULD fit in the compartment.

It will definitely fit. My current engine is almost the same & I've seen these 32v's on Ford Rangers. My truck is severely underpowered & I know this DOHC will give it the punch it needs.
Does anyone know of anyone that has done this before?

It would make the little worm on the side of your truck more understandable but still not excusable. :D

Why would you change the transmission? I thought the F-series had a steeper 1st gear and better clutches. I could be totaly wrong but still the F-150 has fewer miles on its trans.

Yes, that little worm on the side of my truck was the definition of an incomplete project, lol... Then along came a Mrk VIII that definitely put a hold on that but I want to finish it.
As for the transmission? My OEM tranny went bad at 56,000 miles, installed a tranny from a roll over accident Expedition with 26,000 miles. My transmission currently has about 79,000 miles on it but it's shifting a bit weird already. I'm not a fan of those transmissions. I'll keep it on the car though, I'll keep the other as a spare to either vehicle!

Im sure its been done before. Your in the wrong place to be asking though. Get on some F150 forums and ask around.

There was a 90s F150 with a DOCH from a mark viii here for sale locally a while back. I dont know what ever happened to it though.

It would fit, but you still wouldnt have a cobra engine in your truck. ;)

Go for it, man. Keep us posted. You should be able to finance the entire swap with the parts you sell. :D

I'm still waiting on a reply from the seller. It's about 80 miles from my house and as you guys can see, the front is slammed. I want to make sure I can drive it home. If I have to tow it 80 miles, that can get costly.

You have the same headlights I have in my expy. You do the HID swap yet or just halogens?

You could drive it, if the front leaks slowly just turn the car off and back on again to raise her or if its a fast leak just bring a floor jack and slam the back down as well

I have Cadillac Escallade HID's/ballasts. I have a buddy that works at a local Cadillac dealership and he got them for me over 3 years ago. Remember, It's not about what you know, it's about who you know.;)
