Pete02LSE February 22nd, 2005, 08:39 PM As usual...I regularly search eBay looking for LS parts...just to see what's new. Today...I ran across these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43957&item=7956431975&rd=1
While these are my favorite LS wheels...and I don't see them too much...I'd love to have them on our LSE. But...I need them like I need a hole in the head. The chrome ones that are on it look great and are in fine condition.
Just thought someone here might be interested. Are these that rare? $499 for a set of factory wheels isn't jack.
Oh...and I wasn't aware they were called anthracite...learn something new everyday. BTW...I bought a set of Z06 wheels for my SS from this seller...good products.

I dont know -- I dont think they would look good on a mark ---
jdsimons February 23rd, 2005, 12:34 PM i don't know.. think i am diggin those wheels. I just don't know if i can spend the money for the exact same wheel i have now only different color. don't know if i would be changing a whole lot. But i think it would look better that color.
cdixon February 23rd, 2005, 12:44 PM Hey if any of you do buy these and have the same wheel in chrome that you would like to sell let me know. I have the regular alloy color 17" now and I would like to get chrome.
Quik LS February 23rd, 2005, 01:05 PM i thought factory LSE can with those rims - two-tone grey with polished lip?
I see - they were standard - the chrome were optional...

That's interesting...when we were looking for an LSE...all but one of them had the optional wheels. Must have been a popular option. I think the anthracite ones do look great...however, the chrome ones on ours have grown on me. Silver car...chrome wheels.
kleetus February 24th, 2005, 10:00 PM Straight from the '02 LS sales brochure... "17 inch aluminum 5 spoke, two tone blade grey". That was the wheel that came with the LSE package. Apparently above all other options, with the line in addition to or in place of. I've only seen one car with them, and they are sharp. If you look carefully, they are not the same as the chrome or silver 5 spokes... the outside ring that's silver never touches the spoke, as where the chrome and silver ones, the spoke blends down flush with the edge of the rim.
Pete, I'm surprised your car didn't come with them... I was looking at that same auction, and was thinking about it. $500 is a lot for a factory wheel set... I dunno, I'm cheap that way. I'm going to make a set of my own, as a buddy has a powder coating shop. All of my 5 spokes are starting to corrode around the middle cap, so I figure I will corn cob blast them, re powder coat the silver over the whole rim, paint the grey section and feather the spokes in, then repowder coat the entire rim with clear. That should outlast the life of the car at that rate...
NickLS February 24th, 2005, 11:41 PM kleetus, how much is all that powder coating and prep work gonna cost you?
kleetus February 25th, 2005, 01:11 AM about 40 bucks a wheel or so...

I thought they were the LSE wheel too but...apparently, most must have opted for the chrome ones because only one out of the 5 or so that we looked at had the anthracite wheels.

Ehhh...actually...that's REALLY cheap compared to the cost from Lincoln. I'd bet those wheels from Lincoln are > $350/ea. I've never understood why a car manufacturer thinks their wheels are made of unobtainium. I mean...for that price I could get an extremely nice set of aftermarket wheels.
Doesn't matter much anyway...someone snapped them up with the BIN option. Good purchase IMHO.

kleetus February 27th, 2005, 10:51 PM Ub... Unobtanium... I love it... I agree too, I never understood why factory asks so much for stupid parts. I dunno, I know of a few wheel houses to check into. I dunno if you have a copy of the 2002 LS brochure, (I always raid the dealerships of new reading material), but that's the book that really made me want one of these. Once I saw the LSE picture anyway. If I can find my scanner, I'll punch a few pages up here...
