Ford is notorious for changing it's production, redesign and discontinue dates. I don't know much about the LS program. Last I heard was a complete redesign, but not long before that it was slated to be discontinued. Basically, we all have to wait and see what ford decides.

Considering the major overhaul of the LS is slated for 2008 I doubt very seriously they'll invest any money for changes on the 2006-2007 Lincoln LS. One thing is for certain though they'll find ways to cut costs on those years. Lincoln always finds something on the car to take away to reduce costs.

Here's an article on the 2008 LS in a previous Motortrend magazine:

True,

The last years of any Ford design always result in serious cost cutting measures. It makes sense from a business perspective...

Anyone with any further information on this matter?

When is Lincoln going to hire someone to turn it around like Cadillac?

nope - the 2006 is the same as the 03+ only it has the LSE appearance package.

So no cosmetic changes, exactly the same for 2006? Redesign in 2007-8?

The complimentary maintenance will still be for 1 year, 12K miles, I assume?

Man, the LS is one sick car but Lincoln just sucks at promoting, the only commercial I see rarely is one with a black LS on a forest road, promoting the 299 a month lease......

Well, they better give the Zephyr a stronger engine- don't see how it's going to compete with Acuras that have much more beter engines and performance.

Yes it is... but it does have AWD. I think it's the same platform as the upcoming Ford Fusion..?

I believe:

zephyr / ford 500 / mercury montego = same platform

fusion / millano = same platform

From what I've read, the Zephyr is built on the Mazda 6 platform. The 2008 LS will be on the same platform as the Ford 500 & Mercury Montego. It's suppose to be all wheel drive, with alittle more H.P. than the Ford 500.

I think the ford 500 is ugly!

Related tot he Ford 500 and Zephyr news, and it's dumb.

Sounds like the Zephyr will get a 3.5 L Duratec DOHC version, but only as an option! WTH, the Lincolns should get them standard. And the Lincolns won't get the uprated version until July of next year.

"In some ways this is great news. The 3.5-liter Duratec engine is ready for the CD3 sedans next year. The 2007 versions of the Lincoln Zephyr, Mercury Milan and Ford Fusion will all have the 3.5 as optional engines. Now here’s the bad news: If Ford continues with these dates, the D3 Chicago cars: Five Hundred, Montego and Freestlye will not see a boost in horsepower until the 2008 model year when the cars get a face lift. Personally we feel the three vehicles are just about right for the 3.0-liter engine, but a higher-powered option would be welcomed. We just hoped it would happen before 2008."

I read an article recently which discussed the 500s body redesign seems it is just sitting on the lot due to the plain jane looks. I hope they follow through seems like a nice car just needs some make up.

It's not that bad, IMO, just looks too much like an oversized Passat. I really hope the Zephyr gets the uprated 3.5L duratec as a standard feature. Also, I don't like the look of the Zephyr's interior- too retro looking. I'm all for a little retro, but that's going too far, and doesn't really match the exterior. I was hoping for more of a Mark VIII style cockpit enveloping feel, or even like the LS.

'Scuse my ignorance, but what makes the LSE appearance package so special? I'm assuming that it last made its appearance on the 02 models?

it's a different package - better IMHO.
