94m5 June 4th, 2009, 04:07 PM Ok, i've had enough of Ford's sorry excuse for a V10, and am looking to trade the truck in on a 99 STS with 90K on it.
What are things to look for when I go to look at it?
Mike
Frogman June 4th, 2009, 04:29 PM But the STS won't be able to pull as much weight as the V10 you have now. :(
On a side note... I don't have room to talk, but... Traitor.... :p
94m5 June 4th, 2009, 05:14 PM LOL,
I need the .GIF of the ROFL copter for that comment frog. :D
Frogman June 4th, 2009, 05:27 PM Luckily for you, I have a copy of it.
kustomizingkid June 4th, 2009, 10:02 PM Seriously Mike... you have had it for what 3 months?
If you had bought a diesel you wouldn't be having this problem... everyone knows real trucks don't have spark plugs...
94m5 June 4th, 2009, 10:13 PM Yea, I know kid.
I only have MAYBE 7500 in the truck though. The only reason I bought it was because of the price. Right now my finances dictate I drive something a little better on gas, that and I have wanted a later body style STS for a while.
I'm gonna run down in the morning and look at a 99 STS pewter/oatmeal, fully loaded, sun/moonroof, Premium sound, I think it even has the shopvac powered phallus stimulator.
We shall see.
kustomizingkid June 4th, 2009, 10:36 PM Now that I have thought about this more... a CADILLAC>>> WTF ARE YOU THINKING???
FWD>>> WTF ARE YOU THINKING???
GM?????
chicken June 4th, 2009, 10:39 PM lol kid thats what i was gonna say
"99 STS problems" uhh yeah its a cadillac.
StankinLincoln June 5th, 2009, 12:34 PM good luck on the sts. i had a couple friends with 96's and 00's and they liked them but i didnt see them out of the driveway too much cause something was always wrong and they didnt have the money to fix them. so naturally i had to drive them around in my town car. if your wanting a diesel truck go for a Duramax or a Cummins. Power Chokes which are made by international are not that great. my friend has one in a excursion. its been in the shop several times cause its junk. i dont know about fords new diesel though cause from what i heard they arnt using international or its under international name but a seperate company. but again good luck with whatever decision you make
94m5 June 5th, 2009, 02:58 PM I have a friend with a 97, and an 01 STS.
basic BS problems are all he has had. The ONLY way I would buy a Duramax is if it had been converted over to a Dana 60 Solid axle. I hate IFS. The only thing I like about the cummins engine is...............The engine. I hate dodge trucks.
I have a 99 F250 with the 6.8L, and depending on what happens with this trade, It MAY be getting a Common Rail 5.9 Cummins dropped in it.
94m5 June 5th, 2009, 02:59 PM P.S. I LOVE the 7.3L Power stroke.
Navstar is the name of the company making the 6.4L twin turbo diesel. Just another name for international.
Frogman June 5th, 2009, 03:01 PM Navistar
94m5 June 5th, 2009, 03:05 PM :p
How do you know? you don't even own one.
Frogman June 5th, 2009, 03:10 PM Nope. Not rich enough to afford a "Navstar" motor. :p
XLRVIII June 5th, 2009, 03:46 PM Luckily for you, I have a copy of it.

She keeps you nuts in her purse now...

mark0101 June 9th, 2009, 08:36 PM I have heard that the 2000+ is the way to go if you are buying a northstar engine car. Also make sure that they have changed the coolant regularly and also do one when if you get a STS.
From what I have heard over at the caddy forums, Its not if the Northstar will blow a HG (headgasket), its when it will blow a HG. Make sure you have enough (alot more then a Mark VIII) money for all the problems you will need to fix.
