Ok, i've had enough of Ford's sorry excuse for a V10, and am looking to trade the truck in on a 99 STS with 90K on it.

What are things to look for when I go to look at it?

But the STS won't be able to pull as much weight as the V10 you have now. :(

On a side note... I don't have room to talk, but... Traitor.... :p

Seriously Mike... you have had it for what 3 months?

If you had bought a diesel you wouldn't be having this problem... everyone knows real trucks don't have spark plugs...

Yea, I know kid.

I only have MAYBE 7500 in the truck though. The only reason I bought it was because of the price. Right now my finances dictate I drive something a little better on gas, that and I have wanted a later body style STS for a while.

I'm gonna run down in the morning and look at a 99 STS pewter/oatmeal, fully loaded, sun/moonroof, Premium sound, I think it even has the shopvac powered phallus stimulator.

We shall see.

good luck on the sts. i had a couple friends with 96's and 00's and they liked them but i didnt see them out of the driveway too much cause something was always wrong and they didnt have the money to fix them. so naturally i had to drive them around in my town car. if your wanting a diesel truck go for a Duramax or a Cummins. Power Chokes which are made by international are not that great. my friend has one in a excursion. its been in the shop several times cause its junk. i dont know about fords new diesel though cause from what i heard they arnt using international or its under international name but a seperate company. but again good luck with whatever decision you make

I have a friend with a 97, and an 01 STS.

basic BS problems are all he has had. The ONLY way I would buy a Duramax is if it had been converted over to a Dana 60 Solid axle. I hate IFS. The only thing I like about the cummins engine is...............The engine. I hate dodge trucks.

I have a 99 F250 with the 6.8L, and depending on what happens with this trade, It MAY be getting a Common Rail 5.9 Cummins dropped in it.

P.S. I LOVE the 7.3L Power stroke.

Navstar is the name of the company making the 6.4L twin turbo diesel. Just another name for international.

I have heard that the 2000+ is the way to go if you are buying a northstar engine car. Also make sure that they have changed the coolant regularly and also do one when if you get a STS.

From what I have heard over at the caddy forums, Its not if the Northstar will blow a HG (headgasket), its when it will blow a HG. Make sure you have enough (alot more then a Mark VIII) money for all the problems you will need to fix.
