BeatingU February 14th, 2005, 07:57 PM The Mark VIII's that came from the factory with traction control wern't avalible with the Trac-Loc rear end. So does this mean that my mark that came from the factory without TC most likely has the Trac-Lok I have yet to have the car in the air to see if it is a posi so is there any other way I can tell. :feedback :Beer
ralph February 14th, 2005, 08:08 PM no

i thought all lsc's were posi?
ONEBADMK8 February 15th, 2005, 10:04 AM i thought all lsc's were posi?
Nope, none.
BeatingU February 15th, 2005, 11:32 AM Nope, none.
In the owners manual it list that the trac-loc axel was only available is the car was not equiped with traction control. I think this is because the traction control uses the abs to control the rear axel adn if it were the limited slip or trac-loc it would be extremely bad for the clutchs in the differential. So does this mean the the trac-loc axel is not a posi.
ONEBADMK8 February 15th, 2005, 12:47 PM I swear to you, NO Mark VIII's ever came with a posi. Jack it up and spin a tire, if the other one goes the same way then its a posi. If it turns the opposite way then its not.
MonsterMark February 15th, 2005, 02:08 PM spin a tire, if the other one goes the same way then its a posi. If it turns the opposite way then its not.
No wonder my car only goes in circles.

MrWilson February 15th, 2005, 02:26 PM Yes, indeed. Not a single one ever came from the factory with posi rears. well i cnat say that, perhaps one, as an x car. but other than that, no. None were offered to the general public.

True and yes my X car does have a 3.55 geared posi.
evillally February 15th, 2005, 11:38 PM How's trak-lok in the rain/ snow?
MrWilson February 15th, 2005, 11:59 PM well there ya go! i thought it might. 3.55 seems an odd # to me tho, was it used on any other ford vehicle that year?

It was used as an optimal gear ratio for the supercharged version.
ONEBADMK8 February 16th, 2005, 12:30 AM How's trak-lok in the rain/ snow?
Its fun as hell and sucks too.
67Continental February 16th, 2005, 01:20 AM why would it suck? trak lok is designed for low traction conditions.
Moes8 February 16th, 2005, 05:10 AM My experience with trac-lok in my t-bird turbo is that in the snow/rain you definately get more forward traction but along with that you get more side to side fishtailing of the back end of the car,but i still want it over an open diff any day.
going forward while wiggling is better than not moving at all, :)
