Exhaust X pipe placement question

ok so far I had a bone stock 98 LSC CE

I just cut the mufflers off 2 weeks ago, don't like the tone or the drone of the exhaust

next steps:
bought a X pipe from summit racing
Bought a dynomax 2 in 2 out muffler from summit

Plan

replace resonator with the 2 in and out muffler and install the x pipe right under the drivers seat area.

questions

1. should I put the x where the resonator is now?
2. Leave resonator alone and remove 3 cat and put x there or muffler there

just trying to figure out placement of the X pipe and 2 in and out muffler. I plan on running like this for a while and then if I dont like it buy some Borla or magnaflow mufflers and weld them in out back with stock tips I dont like most aftermarket tips

thanks for the ideas

cats > x-pipe > resonators > muffler(s)

to run mufflers without the resonators makes a tin like noise.... I dont like it. But its up to you. experiment a bit if you have the resources to do it yourself.

I'm going to go with 2.5" from the cats to a hedman hedders x-pipe where the 3rd cat is then to 2 summit turbo 2.5" Mufflers.

I also have 2 2.5" glasspacks in case it's too loud. These will go before the x-pipe...

If anything get rid of the 3rd cat...

I agree 3rd cat = the gay!

i put the x pipe in place of the third cat, then 2 1/2 duals back to magnaflow magnapacks...the x pipe is a ford piece.....GT500 KR, fits in place perfect

I had magnapacks on my 99 cobra it was loud as hell even with cats. I want a mellow tone with a nice growl... would removing the 3rd cat throw a check engine light?

so you guys are saying to keep the resonator.

Did you buy that GT500 X pipe from ebay? I saw like 4 of them, I figured they were BS, who would remove a X pipe from a GT500 with low miles?

how does it sound with that X pipe and magnapacks? did you retain the resonator? any sound clips?

I knocked out the front cats and what a difference. It sound nasty now. I have stock pipes with the 3rd cat and 4" magnaflows it bad a$$ . Never would have guess it would make such a big difference. Not exactly street legal through.

there is NO resonator on a gen 2 lsc. stock you have the first set of cats then the 3rd cat then 2 mufflers out back. if i was you id loose the 3rd cat and put in a x then 2 mufflers out back

I'm really curious how my car would sound if I kept the stock cats, put an X pipe in place of the third cat and kept the stock mufflers... only one way to find out :D
