SST shifting bs (anyone have this problem ever?)

So I've only been using SST now about a week and in that time twice it has decided it wasn't going to shift into 3rd. I could shift from 1-2 and no higher unless I put it in D5. Then from 5th I could go 5-4, but the weird crap is when I downshift from 4 it goes to 2.

The first time it did it I just died a little inside and decided to wait till it does it again. When it did it this time I turned the car off at the first light and then back on, and it was fine. Drove it around town the rest of the night in SST with no issues.

Anyone have this problem? Search didn't help me. What is it with these low mile '05's and all these problems :shifty:

Mine did that once or twice - even posted a thread asking WTF the deal was. Hasn't happened since, though

Thanks for the reply, I wish it would just go away but I don't count on it. Noone else has had this issue?

It's like someone designed the damned thing to malfunction this way (mine has a mind of it's own and quite frequently does things completely illogically, like taking 2-3 sec to shift) so it drives the owner crazy but doesn't last long enough to be able to demo it to a service rep. I had a whole day without 4th, wouldn't go in in SST, and only way was to go back into auto to get it back.

I've said all along, this car has been kept from actually being a really great car by this junk transmission. I do mean junk, everything is relative and this thing would give an Escort a bad rep.

I do still like my LS however. I just grumble about this 'issue' every once in a while.....
