rayner601 April 24th, 2009, 12:32 AM Think about this Ford...to boost sales and to give us something better than some hum-drum fusion or bloated taurus, do this:
Import this: new idea for tbird lx or cougar ls (http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1178852824657&pagename=FOA/DFYPage/Ford-Default&site=FOA&c=DFYPage)
Import this for tbird sc or cougar xr7: cougar xr7 (http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1178852824823&pagename=FOA/DFYPage/Ford-Default&site=FOA&c=DFYPage)
Import this for mark 8: mark 8 (http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1178852825041&pagename=FOA/DFYPage/Ford-Default&site=FOA&c=DFYPage)
It wouldn't take much to convert this to a 2dr and to US saftey standards, plus it would give ford something to really compete with bmw, lexus, infinity and others that have whooped on Lincoln since the late 80's...
What ya'll think? I have been drooling over the xr8 for the past few hours...
MediumD April 24th, 2009, 03:17 AM Australia gets all the cool Ford/GM cars...
Cheez_94 April 24th, 2009, 07:43 AM Thats because their government doesn't regulate them into the ground
mrzeee April 24th, 2009, 08:16 AM Also they are made in Brazil and are right hand drive only. If you like the Falcon then check out the UTE...looks like a mustang/ranchero. One of my Aussie customers had one of each and had to leave them when he left there to become a Phoenix Az resident. I wish I had the pic of his UTE on the computer inc the Falcon Turbo he had. Ill try to scan them from home and post them.

ground_zero298 April 24th, 2009, 08:18 AM Don't forget the mondeo in europe. Rated by topgear as the best car of the year.
wood_e April 24th, 2009, 09:23 AM Dear Ford,
Bring these cars stateside!
You will turn a profit instantly.
Thanks,
John
kustomizingkid April 24th, 2009, 11:17 AM They can't... they won't pass our regs in many ways....
shiryu0 April 24th, 2009, 11:51 AM GM tried bringing the aussie cars.........GTO, G8........didnt really work......they killed the G8 ST ute they were gonna bring over, at least i got to see it at a car show :)
i love the utes
kustomizingkid April 24th, 2009, 12:27 PM Ick...
The omen April 24th, 2009, 02:55 PM Then maybe they should regulate their regulations:D .........just a thought!
rayner601 April 24th, 2009, 03:07 PM I know it's wishful thinking:rolleyes:
Ford's got to do something besides these nasty excuses for vehicles they are putting out. Not mechanical or from a reliability standpoint but visually. Lincoln is now a bad joke. I looked at the mkx or z or f or whatever the newest model is and I wasn't impressed, looked like a dressed up Fusion. I know ford has come a long way in reliability and styling since the early eighties, I lost interest in new FLM vehicles around 2000-2002...I miss the ol' probe gt, LS, and a few others...ok, I'll shut up now
greenlinc April 25th, 2009, 05:01 AM The part I like----5.4 dohc, and 6 speed zf tranny and sequential sport shift, Put that combo under the hood of my Mark!! that sounds SWEET!! Put it in a sporty new Lincoln that would work also.
catmech April 25th, 2009, 07:28 AM the reason the gto failed was pricing. it was over priced here. in australia the cars retailed for 40k australian. then gm brought the car here put gto badges on it and wanted 38k. our money is worth more than yours so you do the math. gm once again price gouging.
catmech April 25th, 2009, 07:31 AM fpv also makes the xr6 which is a turbocharged inline 6.
k9t8m April 25th, 2009, 08:40 AM GM tried bringing the aussie cars.........GTO, G8........didnt really work......they killed the G8 ST ute they were gonna bring over, at least i got to see it at a car show :)
i love the utes
Thats because it was a 10 year old design.
CobraStar_LS8 April 26th, 2009, 02:03 AM I wonder if a Navigator Motor can fit in our Marks?????
MediumD April 26th, 2009, 02:19 AM Navi motor gets real close to the strut towers. Not to say it can't be done (pretty much anything can be done,) just a PITA.
Don't forget the mondeo in europe. Rated by topgear as the best car of the year.
They brought that over a couple years ago, called it the X-type, and put a big dent in Jaguar's reputation...
Aquabrit April 26th, 2009, 02:27 AM I wonder if a Navigator Motor can fit in our Marks?????
Who cares if it could? It's a crap engine. (for our cars, anyway)
You certainly won't be saving any weight with one of those engines in your Mark! Lol.
dnehthend April 26th, 2009, 02:34 AM an awd 3.5 ecoboost fusion/mkz coupe would work
kustomizingkid April 26th, 2009, 12:13 PM I like the Mark VIII.... that's why I drive one!
chicken April 26th, 2009, 12:59 PM aussie FTW!!!!!
