Track results...

Well the conditions were terrible but I did manage a new best time. There was literally a 20mph headwind because of a storm in the area and the track was really cold. I barely pulled a better 60 foot time with the drag radials versus the Sumitimos...

Still ran a 2.05/14.02/97.4 MPH launching at 1500rpm...

So close but not quite there. The car feels sloppy on the 2-3 shift, it's very slow. I think it's time to do a J-mod or Bauman shift kit...

Sloppy on the 2,3 eh?

To get the same firmness of :q:q:q:q as you get on the 1,2 you need to add considerably more shift pressure for the 2,3. That is the same kind of reason why you can leave the bottom spring out on the 2,3 but wouldn't want to do that with the 1,2.

Yea, my transmission is 100% bone stock 98 4r70w with Mobil 1 full synthetic Mercon 5. I don't even have a tranny cooler.

Sniper tuned though... that should firm up shifts a wee bit... but it is mechanically stock... Same here.

A wee bit is an understatement... with the line pressure jacked up via Sniper, no timing retard in between shifts and the 4.30's it will snap your neck back on the 1-2 shift. ;)

You don't have to tell me :D

I could go way more extreme in my tune... but after making some torque table adjustments I've got it shifting just right.

Well for me it is based on a series of scales and charts... the main and most obvious is the shift pressure charts (We have 1,2 2,3 3,4 4,3 3,2 2,1) the chart is divided into a TPS and RPM scale. In the scales you have choices of pressures from -50-99 if I remember correctly. Besides changing those values we also have things like clutch fill time, torque tables, etc... all of which can potentially change the shift pressure or "feel" of the shifting.

That'll do it. :D

I remember my '93 before installing the Baumann kit. Every time I was in a 'fender race' at the track, my car would 'fall back' at each shift. After the Baumann shift kit that was never a problem again. ;)

I set my trans functions to "last for over 5000 passes" or over 360,000 miles.
