Green Machine April 2nd, 2009, 09:04 AM Does anyone else have a problem getting ebay links in posts to work? I use IE7 and have The latest version of Firefox.
When someone puts a link for something on Ebay in a thread for us to look at, it takes me to:
http://ads.shoppingads.com/pagead/link_0733ce92e4963d1b7a18_b69fd3a9c59d27eaabaeae3f a0cb64c6_http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2F Lincoln-Mark-Series-MARK-VIII-1997-LINCOLN-MARK-8-VIII-4-6-DOHC_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a 2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q 3a4Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZite m120399635977QQitemZ120399635977QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fT rucks
any ideas?
98CobraStarLSC April 2nd, 2009, 09:11 AM that link took me 2 a white gen II mark viii for sale on ebay..
So no problem here i guess.
luxuryrules April 2nd, 2009, 09:15 AM Hey it's that white Mark VIII from gloversville NY!
In all likelihood your hosts file has been hijacked. Scan your PC with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Spyware Terminator, and whatever antivirus you have.
Then, edit the Hosts file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc by right clicking and Open With and pick Notepad. Delete all the entries at the bottom except for the 127.0.0.1 localhost one (the first entry). Save it, and you should be good to go.
unity April 2nd, 2009, 10:14 AM That "ads" insert pisses me off, it can mess some things up. Its a forum thing, just not sure why its there.

Anytime I copy a link from an eBay listing and paste it in here, it never works. This forum seems to cut off some of the end of the link?
Frogman April 3rd, 2009, 10:12 AM Cutting off some of the link, I think, is by design. That way, the forums don't show a link that could be 1/2 a page long.
And Green, I'm with Cobrastar. Link took me to the fleabay listing as well.
kustomizingkid April 3rd, 2009, 10:17 AM If you copy the link and chop the name down it works....
Russo April 3rd, 2009, 10:31 PM It's just a referral link to make a few cents for the guys who run the site.
luxuryrules April 4th, 2009, 03:49 PM I've hit this site from, literally, dozens of machines, every conceivable browser, and several different OSes. Never had an ebay link take me anywhere except ebay.
Referral link makes sense, but I would be interested to know why it only hijack's Green's browser and not any of mine.. or Frog's... or CobraStar's. Joey, what's the story?
Green Machine April 4th, 2009, 04:02 PM I ran a total system scan with Kaspersky, and another with ad aware. According to them im clean as a whistle. I also edited my host file.
Still, when i mouse over or click on any ebay link in the forums, i get the ads/shoppingads.com blah blah..... it does not take me to Ebay. its just ebay URL's. any other links posted work fine. i just dont know.:(
