At some point I am looking to get aftermarket wheels and tires. My question is what size wheels and tires could I get without it messing up my speedo? I'm looking to bump up to a 17" or a possible 18" wheel.

What size tires can you fit on a Mark VIII?Blackout February 9th, 2005, 04:44 PM At some point I am looking to get aftermarket wheels and tires. My question is what size wheels and tires could I get without it messing up my speedo? I'm looking to bump up to a 17" or a possible 18" wheel. Joeychgo February 9th, 2005, 05:08 PM Lincoln Motorsport is running a sale on the 17x9 SVT Chrome WHeels - $999 for all 4 wheels. http://www.lincolnmotorsport.com Blackout February 9th, 2005, 06:02 PM I wouldn't mind the Cobra rim's but I'm really not looking to spend $1000 on them when I can get them with tires mounted and balance for $1500 directly from Ford BeatingU February 9th, 2005, 08:40 PM I was on ebay and they have several sets of LS wheels I was just wondering if the backspaceing would work on the mark VIII. I know the bolt patern is the same. They have 16's and 17's. I want to stay with the 16's. :feedback :zgreenbou BlackIceLSC February 9th, 2005, 08:43 PM There is a whole mess of aftermarket options you can get. The key is "off-set". You have to be sure to get a wheel who's offset allows you the tire size you crave. Stock rim dimensions are: 16x7 5 on 4.25(5x4 1/4) +39mm offset(like a FWD car) T-Bird/Cougar wheels bolt right up. Makes shopping for them alot easier with this info. The widest tires I have seen on a Mark VIII were: 245/50-18 FRONT 275/40-18 REAR I believe it was on a +30mm offset, but that part I am not definate on(owner wasnt sure). indust82 February 10th, 2005, 09:55 AM I believe the newer tbird has a higher offset...closer to 60mm(which sux cux those are some pretty oem wheels). The older ones may bolt on like....but the only rims worth having would have to come off a sho. At least in my opinion. The LS from what i remember when i was rim shopping also has an offset that is too high. There are cougars, continentals, some volvo's will work i think and that's about it. Even the aftermarket's are kinda hard to find with the right offset, but they are out there. I put 18's on my car (pictures soon....sorry i've been stallin) and with 245's the speedo didn't change. I paid about 1150 in all, tires, wheels, mounted. 67Continental February 10th, 2005, 04:16 PM that's a really good price for 18 tires and wheels, where did oyu get them? djKale February 10th, 2005, 07:08 PM You need to keep in mind the width of the wheel when you start talking about offset. I don't see any reason why you couldn't fit something like an 18x9, 60mm offset wheel on a Mark VIII, as long as you're talking about positive offset. Now there may be a very good reason that it won't work, but from what I have seen trying to fit 275/20s out back, there is a LOT of room towards the inside of the car. The more +offset you have, the more the tire is "tucked" under the car. Even with 275s, there was a lot of room to spare. Your stock wheel/tire diameter is 26.6 inches. Knowing this, a 245/45/18 would give you 26.7, with 275/40/18 being the same diameter. Google for "tire size calculator" and you'll get lots of hits. Kale indust82 February 11th, 2005, 09:55 AM that's a really good price for 18 tires and wheels, where did oyu get them? wheels and tires off ebay.......rims(18 chrome) were 575 after ship and tires(essenza's) were 475. Then i had to pay for valve stems/mounting/balancing. (Sorry I still haven't posted pics.....been tied down with school and work....but soon) lincolnboy February 11th, 2005, 12:24 PM i have 18*9 w/ 30mm offset. i have 295 out back and they stick out bout .5" only if i thier is a way i could get a more + offset to tuck the big tires out back..... crash February 11th, 2005, 12:43 PM i have 18*9 w/ 30mm offset. i have 295 out back and they stick out bout .5" only if i thier is a way i could get a more + offset to tuck the big tires out back..... Do you have any pics? Blackout February 12th, 2005, 11:14 AM Well unfortunatly for me the roads suck real bad for around hear and after owning a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V which had 215/45/17's on it there is no way in hell I will ever be going back to such a low profile tire because within a few months of having the car I bent one of the rims. So the lowest I might go is 50-55 sidewalls seanklsc February 12th, 2005, 11:19 AM If you like Mustang wheels, there is a guy here who sells Mustang replicas for our cars for very good prices. He has Cobra R and Bullit's right now for around $700 shipped. Polished, painted, or chromed... his email is cudaz101@yahoo.com. I've never heard a bad thing about cudaz101's products, and he answers all my emails promptly and detailed. ONEBADMK8 February 12th, 2005, 04:27 PM Awesme! Ours fit perfectly. | |||||
