1995 Lincoln Continental help....

Hello, I am new to the forums. About 2 years ago I bought a 1995 Lincoln Continental for $350. The air suspension was shot, but the car was in amazing shape. The inside and out are 9/10, so I couldn't pass it up. It runs great and it was inspected when I bought it, but the owner stopped driving it as soon as the air suspension failed. So, anyways I just got around to fixing it up, and replaced all 4 air bags, solenoids, and the compressor with new/rebuilt parts. Now, I just have a few questions as I am new to the whole Lincoln/air ride scene. First, how often should the compressor run? Does it normally come on while driving to adjust? If so, how often is normal? Secondly, as soon as I shut the car down, it "vents" the front and rear a little bit. Normal, I know, but then the rear still seems to have a leak somewhere. I would have to assume it is where the solenoid goes in to the bag?? They are all new parts and o-rings. Overnight the rear air will leak out till they are completely empty. Thirdly, is it normal for the bags to leak down eventually? After about a week the front was a little bit lower than when it initially vented, but not all of the way down. Is this normal? There is not service ride control light on or anything, and the car seems to sit level while driving and rides good. I had someone follow me to check the height/levelness while driving and they said it looked all good. I also hear a clunk int he rear, and was told it could be sway bar bushings or the horizontal "quad" shocks. Where can I get the new "quad"? shocks? I do not know the technical name for the shocks, thats what they're called on my Mustang though. Any help would be extremely appreciated. I tried searching, but I did not come up with all of the information I was looking for. Thanks for ANY help, as I am trying to fix this all myself and avoid the dealers lol.

I got a 02 and my comp will run as soon as i get in it and maybe once more after i'm driving. I've let mine sit for 2 months and it never lowered at all. I only have rear bags. Mine will also self adjust once after it has been sitting for 5-10 minutes. I'd spray some dish soap and water from a spray bottle on everything and look for the bubbles.

Clunk in the rear is probably swaybar bushings, (if it sounds like a golf ball bouncing around in the trunk). Their easy to change and don't last long. I live on a dirt road and have to change mine every year. Makes me wonder what else is rattling loose under their.

Welcome to the Forums.

I have A 95. When I start it up, you hear it, and during driving on occasion, especially when you change from city to highway. I think it's supposed to lower at her speeds, for aero and efficiency. The other times you might hear them is if a person or stg with weight is put into or taken out of the car. And similarly when you fill up the gas, esp if it's been near empty, it might come on for that leveling function.

Bags may also inflate due to heating and cooling during driving.

compressor runs as needed to adjust bags.my compressor runs 10-12 seconds on start-up

venting is normal

very important to change the dryer on the compressor every year. the dryer takes the moisture out of the air going to the bags.if you don't have a good dryer, moisture gets into the inside of the bags. This causes the bags to rot from the inside out, thus lots of money for repairs. dryers are not expensive usually about $30-$35
