Setting base timing

Hey guys,

My 92 MK VII BB has been running a little rough of late, with a little hesitation when accelerating from low revs under load.

I pulled the codes, nothing on the KOEO but went to check the timing at idle before i did the timing advance test and it was way off..cant remember what it was now, but no where near the 10deg BTDC that my manual specifies.

So.. am i checking the timing correctly? do i have to disconnect anything from the dist? i read something somewhere about a SPOUT connector or something?

I want to be sure im checking the timing correctly before i start adjusting anything.

Thanks

You need to disconnect the SPOUT connector before messing with the timing.
