93 Eldorado help

hey guys.(and ladies) I currently own an 88 eldo and im thinking about getting a 93 eldo.there are 2 im looking at one has the northstar, and the other a 4.9. one is said to be reliable and the other sporty. i am really worried about getting the one with a northstar and it ends up just being an abused lemon thats going to 2grand to get fixed. then with the 4.9 with 145000 miles it just be wore out. help me i just want everyones opinion on this matter please :Bang

Before you make a final decision, you should check for trouble codes in diagnostic mode.

To enter diagnostic mode:

1. Turn ignition "ON."
2. Depress the "OFF" and "WARMER" buttons on the Climate Control Center (CCC) simultaneously and hold until the segment check appears on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

Have a pad and pencil ready to write down any codes that appear. Even if the codes are 'HISTORY' codes, write them down. The following link will provide information pertaining to the codes:

Ill be sure to do that thanks. but what is your opinion on the 4.9 v.s. northstar. what are some pros and cons of each...trouble spots etc.
