Any one got any ideas on how to remove scratches from a side mirror?
Bob.

How deep are the scratches? Can you catch them with your fingernail? Is it on the actual mirror or on the painted part?

They are on the mirror and I can't feel them at all.
They were caused by my German Shepherd.
When she sticks her head out the window, her front paw hits the mirror.
I tried a product (3M fine cut rubbing compound) I use on the body of the car and truck to remove scratches but, it didn't work on the mirror.
Bob.

try some Jewelers rouge on a cloth buffing wheel or sometimes cigarette ashes wet on a cloth will work. I used to work at PPG Auto Glass and we had good luck with both. hope that helps.

+1 on the rouge. Cigarette ashes? That is wild.

Huh. I've only used 0000 steel wool, and that was on exhaust tips.
