Nice! What ever happened to just giving a good, honest description of a car? Oh well, at least he didn't refer it as ''The one with the Cobra motor'' like some sellers do.

"1994 Lincoln Mark VIII Coupe
with Rare 4.6L Interceptor Engine
(YES! the one with FOUR Overhead Cams, normally reserved for CHP Vehicles!) "
LMAO.

The CHP vehicles have the 2 valve motors. Moron.

I wont dog a 2v. they have a huge market and have some good potential. But I was told by a girl whos dad owns a retired fbi cruiser and she says its soooo fast. I just laughed... Then of course... it is a girl.

Funny how that works. I've even had a couple of LEOs tell me their cruisers had 32 valvers. And yet, I [ask them to] pop the hood and see the SOHC motor. Yeah, ok.

As best I can say, no Crown Vic has ever come with a DOHC. Has anybody ever seen one? In person? Pics, even? It's one of those things a lot of people talk about but nobody can every prove or disprove.

Kinda funny cause one of the first rides I got in a Ford Cop Car with the 4.6 was cause my 4x4 Van crapped out on one of the side roads by my house. Well I parked it in front of someones house and the road has no curbs, so when I saw a cop car cruising down the street I flagged him down and told him I didnt abandon it.

So he offered to give me a ride the few miles to my house and drop me off. Well coming around the turn onto my street the thing farts and dies :p I was like WOW you guys really keep your cars well tuned anymore! He was telling me what pieces of crap he thought they where :D

Anyway I would love to get one of those Mafia looking Black on Black Lincoln 4 doors and put my spare DOHC engine in it...with 2 turbo's for a bit of boost, SLEEPER :shifty:

The OLDER Interceptor's (like pre '92), had 351W's in them. They actually moved pretty well.

07 crown vics, are noticeably slower than previous years, and most of the trans went bad in the first 20k miles. But then Detroit does by the cheapest crap ever. actually since Ive been driving Police cars (1995) Detroit has only bought crown vics, and they suck. Ive been blown away by Neons, Cherokees, and basically everything else on the road, they handle bad, the brakes use to be really bad on the 94, and 95 (they used to catch fire after a good chase). However I will say I am surprised at how long the engines keep running.

And I cant tell you how many times some idiot would start telling me about how fast my crown vic must be when I had my 96 interceptor.

Four things.

1. The craigslist post has been corrected.

2. The Crown Vics trans is the same as ours.

3. Crown Vics are pretty damn close to our cars in acceleration. My 02 P71 is about 3 tenths slower than my stock 94 Mark was.

4. GM should've never stopped making the Caprice.

What Vics are good at is being able to be beat on 24/7 and have fairly low failure rates...

I guess the Vic's a factory freak then... Corrected to zero density altitude the Mark would've been fairly consistent 14.7s, the Vic would be right around 15 flat. The results were even closer between the Vic and my friends 97 LSC..

And this was about 160k miles on a 02 P71, all stock with 3.27s..

Steppin on some toes now are we? We're just talking about bone stock Crown Vics, which are slow no matter how you cut it. A 5.4 Vic would be a fun project, what kind of stall did the owner use and what was it set at?

High 15s/low16s are all you'll get out of a stock Vic. Even the rauder don't break into the 14s stock.

No one said all Vics are slow. I know guys that have faster Vics then you do but I also have a friend building a 800hp Mark VIII. Just about every car out there has at least a few "freaks" out there wanting to go fast.

def...now my 89 vic....that car took a BEATING!!!!! and never flintched.....loved it! with 3.55s, exhaust, air induction and a few other goodies went 16.3.....not exactly fast, but alot better than my 17.3 stock

I don't understand how this relates to stock Vics... my buddy has an NA 4.6 Vic that runs 13.4 in the 1/4.... but it is no where near stock....

and the pre88 vics are good in demos as well, easy exhaust, just flip the exhaust maniflods to the other side and you have a hood exhaust

I'll be sure to let you know, although if I don't make it out there until summer when it's still 105* at midnight, your 15.5 might be right.

I'd bet $20 and a whopper, but if I do better than 15.5 it would be too easy to claim I wasn't stock or send my whopper via Media Mail so it would be gross by the time it got here, etc. :p
