hey i got my alt at my parts dept, i got the cobra one for the same price as max at 5 star,about 160 bucks....when you mean stretch the harness what do you mean, hopfully no cut and splicing ,just pull it?

It is easier to explain/understand once you have the whole thing in except the battery line that is under the rubber cover. The cobra hook-up is just a lil bit off center from the factory Mark VIII alternator.

Here is what you have to do:

1) Install the alternator completely with the exception of the battery line.

2) Take the battery connection and follow it back and cut the factory tape/wire loom to expose more of the battery line.

3) Extend that line (cut the factory applied tape) as much as you need until it reaches the connection on the alternator.

4) Tighten down the nut that holds that wire onto the alternator.....you are now done.

dude, it took 12 minutes to get it done.....couldn't believe the ease, i cant believe the book flags an hour and a half for the job can't wait til i get my ford certification...LOL :Beer
