tubbyLS6 October 28th, 2008, 12:43 AM ok so i spent 300 to get the heat to work. upper hose, and for a heater valve. now i have heat but it only blows on full fan. when i loxer i to a lower spend it feels like its on the lowest fan speed. has anyone ever had this problem? if so what did you do to fix it??
tubbyLS6 October 28th, 2008, 11:09 AM ?????????????????????????
tubbyLS6 October 28th, 2008, 12:32 PM anyone ? please
mharrison October 28th, 2008, 04:28 PM Does the fan work at all speeds on A/C or vent?
It will help to determine if this is a heat issue or a fan issue.
tubbyLS6 October 28th, 2008, 07:38 PM i tried it on a/c and lowered the cabin temp and nothing as soon as i slowly check each fan speed, nothing happens i dont feel or hear the fan pushing the air. it only works on full fan. my heat works my fan stop working on the lower fan speeds
lincoln00 October 28th, 2008, 08:05 PM climate control sounds like its bad...
tubbyLS6 October 28th, 2008, 08:31 PM could it be a loss pulg in the back of the climate control? i did pull out the factory headunit and put in a poineer double din navi
joegr October 28th, 2008, 09:14 PM climate control sounds like its bad...
No, this is a classic symptom of a failed "blower motor speed control."
First check that all of your cables are completely plugged into the back of the climate control. If they are and the problem persists, then it is almost certainly a blown transistor in the speed control. The module should be down under the right side of the dash next to the blower motor. It will be mounted such that part of it is in the air stream from the blower, for cooling. (High speed still works because the module has a separate relay for that.)
Check the blower motor for excess current draw, as that is what usually kills the speed control module.
tubbyLS6 October 29th, 2008, 12:13 AM thanks for the info i'm going to try and look at it tomorrow. but if its the transistor, can i get a new one? one a scale from 1-10 for a DIY what am i getting into?
joegr October 29th, 2008, 08:27 AM Shouldn't be too difficult. You'll have to buy the whole speed control module. It shouldn't be too expensive. It's a good item to get from a junkyard.
mrzeee October 29th, 2008, 10:43 AM On a 2002 ls (do not know your year) the fan speed control is a 2l1z-19e624-aa and has a list of 56.17 and would cost a LVC member 42.13 plus shipping
tubbyLS6 October 29th, 2008, 03:26 PM mine is a 2000 LS6. and does anyone have a picture of it or a link? of the speed control module?????????/ once agina thank you so much for the great info
tubbyLS6 October 30th, 2008, 12:31 PM i have one more question i looked up the TSB and they keep saying its the climate control. so how do i figure out if its the climate control or the fan speed control module??????
joegr October 30th, 2008, 12:42 PM The factory service manual has a step by step "pin-point" test sequence that determines if it is the climate control, the wiring, or the speed control. All you need is a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) and the test procedure. My manual is for the gen II. Someone else on this board has posted a link to where they put an 06 manual on-line. Unfortunately, I can't remember the link.
I don't know if the procedure is different for gen I or not. Maybe you should get the service manual for your year car.
Your alternate choice is to start throwing parts at it.
tubbyLS6 October 30th, 2008, 01:03 PM b/c i did the test mode on the climate control and everything came up ok no codes, so does that rule out the climate control? or is it for the blend doors ?
joegr October 30th, 2008, 01:15 PM It makes it less likely, but unfortunately it doesn't eliminate it as a possibility. Only the pin-point procedure would do that. (Or swapping with known good parts.) Do you know anyone with a gen I LS that would let you swap speed controls with, to see if that is the problem or not.
mrzeee October 30th, 2008, 01:27 PM That part is also correct for the 2000.
tubbyLS6 October 30th, 2008, 02:55 PM no i dont know anyone with an LS. i guess i'll just flip a coin to by a new fan speed module or a climate control. there both the same price
joegr October 30th, 2008, 03:24 PM Wow, I would have thought the climate control was well over $42.
