I have advocated that for years, since it was done away with.
Young people need some direction in their lives, and they are not getting it from good ole mom and dad.

I have felt the same for some time. But not necessarily a full enlistment. Maybe 1 or 2 years max. Make it part of college or something. (meaning, give them college credit classes while they are there) I know, thats probably socialist for some of you.

Hey, by all means give as many credits as you want for joing the peace corp but leave the military alone. The only people in the military should be people that want to be in the military. That is what makes OUR military the greatest fighting force in the world.

I think there is some merit to the idea.

Dont necessarily make them fighters, put them in support roles or something.

It also has a very strong, positive social affect on everybody.
It's a very unifying activity, but it's for that reason that it won't happen.
That enlistment brings everyone together, helps lesson the social and ethnic divides, and reinforces the common country culture. That would DESTROY the work of the liberal activists in the country through "educators" like Bill Ayers.
