aceone January 26th, 2005, 12:06 AM whats up?? just read in the new Motor Trend about the new LS comin out in 2008. Supposed to be based on the Ford 500 platform, which means all wheel drive and the big boy gonna be usin a 4.4L v8 with 311 horses from the volvo xc90. Dont know if any of you heard about it already, but sounds good.
Joeychgo January 26th, 2005, 02:05 AM I'll be pumping the Lincoln Guys on this at the Chicago Auto Show on 2-19... Hopefully I'll get some good answers.
kleetus January 26th, 2005, 03:28 AM That's nice... another FWD pos... "and another one bites the dust...."
Sorry, I just like my rear drive cars.
2k2ls January 26th, 2005, 07:50 AM he said all wheel drive.
eL eS January 26th, 2005, 09:42 AM I am sure the AWD is not going to be base.

Sifrino3 January 26th, 2005, 07:44 PM I hate front wheel drive!
SurfjaxLS January 26th, 2005, 08:34 PM It doesn't matter that it will be awd. It will still run about 90%-95% front, 5%-10% rear. A true all wheel drive car has to be the only platform the car will be built on.
My parents just bought an XC90 awd, and it drives like a front wheel drive car unless you can get the front wheels to spin a lot.
brentalan January 26th, 2005, 08:49 PM It is strange how GM was all FWD in the 90's and now they are returning to RWD, while at the same time, Ford is going to FWD and away from RWD.

Here I was raggin' on GM for still having FWD. :) Oh well... If that Yamaha engine is anything like the SHO v6 was, that should be nice.
kleetus January 27th, 2005, 12:29 PM he said all wheel drive.
That's nice.. I'll pass you in a crown vic. The car has just become a shadow of what it was. I'll never own a caddy, looks like I'm buying from over the pond the next time around.
xarruda89x January 1st, 2008, 09:34 PM LOL, sorry about this old thread, 3 years old ......

Read the article...
"Ford sources say this Lincoln version will be all-wheel drive, with the drive biased towards the rear wheels for sporty handling."
97stscaddy January 2nd, 2008, 01:16 AM Looks like that idea got the boot. Here it is officially 2008, the 08 models have been out for over 4 months, maybe 5 or 6 for some, and no new LS.
the SHO v6 was, that should be nice. Maybe nice enough to break timing chains, and blow head gaskets all the time. :p
Hundred44Spokes January 2nd, 2008, 01:20 AM God dammit, I got all excited. Way to dash my hopes, old thread.

You're not alone on this.I have a 1st Gen(2001) my father-in-law bought a 2004 w/ 10k miles only(He's the owner of the Lincoln Dealership here in PR) and I was willing to buy from him a 3rd Gen allready but then I saw it was an old thread :(
Bildabo January 2nd, 2008, 09:19 PM Okay kids, here's the deal. This car is being built. I just drove out to Chicago this morning where the Taurus (Ford 500) is built. They're in the middle of launching the 2009 Lincoln MKS. Its based on the Taurus with a new rear suspension and a few other changes. For the first year it will only be offered with the 3.5L v6, but the 2010 model they will release the new GTDI (Gas Turbo Direct Injection) v6 (I think thats what they're calling it). The crappy part is still no rwd. I got a chance to hop in one and take a ride around the plant. IMO its pretty damn nice. I'll have no problem getting in line to pick one up after the turbo model is released. There was a press release if you want to check it out.

That is not the LS but a nice looking car.
99 KOBRA January 3rd, 2008, 02:35 PM I thought I read that AWD will be an option.
Torx January 4th, 2008, 11:59 AM i think on the lincoln mks website the awd is base.

Any thoughts on how much HP their twinforce engine will pump out, Bildabo?
Garbone January 4th, 2008, 06:42 PM I read 415, but, remember, ...5% of what you hear, and 10% of what you read...
AndrewCoja January 4th, 2008, 10:18 PM It has the rearend of the original Taurus and the frontend of an F150. Bring the LS back.
And I don't care what WD is is, that engine is in sideways. That's not right.
